These are wonderful speakers. Large towers, heavy (114 lbs). Beautifully made, great fit and finish. Very neutral sound, plenty of bass but not boomy, clear, natural midrange and treble. Great imaging and soundstage. Outstanding value at their retail of $2,600. I have heard many speakers costing more but with inferior sound. This model, unfortunately, will soon be discontinued so buy them quickly or look on the used market. These speakers are quality built, have a great reputation for reliability. This will be the last speaker most audiophiles will ever need and I am extremely happy I own them. For their outstanding workmanship, sound and value, I give them:

Strength:

Detailed, imaging, beautifully finished cabinetry

Weakness:

quite large

I bought a pair of these used 1200 dollars, this is the best 1200 that I ever spent. I have nothing but praise. They seem to do every thing well. Imaging, Accuracy, frequency responce, I am driving these with a b and k amplifier av6000 I was concerned the amp is only rated at 105 but they are driven effortlessly with this power. I have added these to my snell home theater ank I couldnt be happier.

Strength:

Seemless blend of frequencys, good imaging, wide soundstage

Weakness:

seemed boomy, very heavy,a lot of coloration

I bought a demo pair after reading reviews. Like most big speakers i found them to need a lot of space away from walls. I also found them to have a lot of coloration, esspecialy in the high frequencys. I attribute this to the fact that they use cheap $20 Audax tweeters, "i mean come on, you guys are selling a $2600 speaker"! If you don't believe me look in the port on the back, then go to partsexpress.com. Otherwise they have the best soundstage i have ever heard, & a very lot of trasparency. I sold them used for $1200 becuase of the coloration, & bought a pair of JBL S312. Bottom lime, they (snells) are exellent speakers, but may not be for everyone, esspecialy if you don't have a big enough room, or are critical about your music. IMHO, I think they are only worth about $1000 to $1500, but definitely not worth $2600!
