As above, but to reiterate-- pacey, rhythmically taught sound which is always involving and enjoyable. Superb mid-band voicing. No bass bloat and no "Hi-Fi" artificialty to the presentation. Just honest music as you know it can sound.

Probably not the LAST WORD in imaging. But who cares? They image very well (at least as well as most small boxes) and make up for what they lack by a granitic solidity of those images. Need good (read: expensive!) stands and are a bit fussy with positioning.

It took me awhile to get them sited correctly, but then--- after some experimentation, things started to seriously groove. So much so, that I now feel they are in fact the fastest, most rhythmic and bass-accurate standmounts I have heard. They have proven themselves infectiously fun with all types of music. The midrange is extremely natural and they have a real solidity to the image. They produce genuine bass-- not fat, artificial tones. Most of all though, they are a pacey, exciting listen that kind of forces you to keep playing CDs when you should be doing the work you've taken home from the office. I think this is their main downside. They are too involving. Be careful what you wish for!

Mid-range to die for!

Needs a touch more "clout" but I'm being really picky here.

As I bought them second hand they settled into my system straight away. Whilst playing O.K. computer from Radiohead, the difference in the midband was instantly clear. From that same album "Exit music" took on a totally different form. You could hear lead singer Thom Yorke's every breath, every swallow, it cast a totally different aspect on my recordings as opposed to the B&W's that I was used to.

As stated, the only gripe was the apparent lack of low freq, but I will have to save up for an active Sub to remedy that problem. I demoed the Cura's, also good mid-band, but too raw and brittle for my own personal liking. The critiques also "round off" the sound nicely IMHO. Great fun speakers to own and to discover certain hidden voices in your music collection you never thought were there!

A class step up from the $300-$400 speaker school.
