The technology also provides a platform for interactive digital services that will deliver listeners information such as song titles, artist names, traffic updates, weather forecasts, sports scores, and more. HD Radio’s multicasting feature is an exciting addition that enables stations to divide their signals into multiple program streams (e.g., 97.3-1, 97.3-2, etc.). Unlike the current radio satellite services, HD Radio is subscription-free, assuring that AM and FM radio will continue to remain one of the best sources for local music, news, weather, and traffic information.
