I bought this table used and I cannot believe what I got for my money. The sound I am getting from this table with an AT 150MLX is unbelievable for the money. I have heard many turntables and you are going to have to spend a lot of money to get better than this. Extremely low noise floor. I hear my preamp over the source it is so quiet. The large platter with great inertia makes for wonderful pace, rythym, and timing. Bass is fabulous. Some of the best Bass I have ever heard from any turntable at any price. Definately agree with the other reviewer...a real sleeper.

If you want to spend about 1500 on a Lyra and 5000 plus on a used Kuzma you will get better sound, but not by much. Now you have to purchase the RPM 9 or 10 to get a better table, which is a lot more expensive.
Only caveat, not enough to take rating down, is that the anti skating arm must be moved when tracking light weight to ensure the wire is not hitting the arm. This combo will track anything.

The turntable is a real sleeper. Beats the RM-5SE hands down, heard them side by side. I moved up from a Thorens; great build quality, but price is always over comparable competitors. I'm using a Denon DL-103R cartridge with the Pro-ject. The soundstage lit up, instruments have more air around them and I gained another ocatve in the lower regions. The tonearm can handle any level or price of cartridge. The RM-6 SB turntable has sound quality that is first rate on an absolute scale, and, considering the price, it is amazing!

Pro-ject marekters are stupid and geniuses whose marvelous ear for sonic differences in design and materials has helped create this beauty, and yet discontinued it to focus on a product that is a step down. If you can find a demo or meticulously used RM-6 SB, grab it. It is an automatic classic, but most important it will sing in your ears.
