Leben CS-300X Headphone Amplifiers

Leben CS-300X Headphone Amplifiers

DESCRIPTION

The CS-300X has five inputs, a tape monitor and a headphone output. It delivers 15 watts via a quartet of NOS Mullard EL84 pentodes configured for push-pull operation. The driver stage consists of 2 x NOS G 5751 dual triodes which are DC coupled to eliminate noise. The loudspeaker output also drives the headphone port - cans and speakers receive identical signals. The CS-300X has a unique bass boost control that operates via a simple cap/resistor circuit on the negative feedback loop as opposed to a separate, more complex circuit as commonly used.

Very musical and sweet sound with resolution, good bass definition, but not special dynamic, comes with built in headphones input. Uses EL84 power tubes and pre tubes ECC83 which means you have a wide selection of brands to choose from: Svetlana, Tesla, Sovtek, Golden Lion, etc or new old stock: like Mullard, Amperex, Telefunken or Siemens. In my test NOS Amperex is the best. Unfortunately amplifier not built in soft start. IMHO it is important when you use rare and expensive tubes. My equipment - source: Accuphase DP-78, loudspeakers: A.M.T. (ESS) Oscar Heil Syrinx, interconnect and speakers cables: Cardas Neutral Reference bi-wire, Thorens TD147SE Jubilee.
