For the past ten years, the dream of power amps has been to support low impedance speakers. Unfortunately, however, the fulfilment of this dream has always been a difficult proposition and Denon eventually felt the need to rethink its approach. The result has been to combine high output power with detailed musical expression, a high grade solution that is the first of its kind.

The challenge facing Denon has been to amplify with dynamic strength and absolute clarity the creative energy transmitted by the artist and to keep apace with the ever-changing musical signal levels. A hefty power supply unit with ample reserves and a power amp that is capable of supplying pure, dynamic signals to the speakers so that the music is heard with absolute transparency are the primary requirements. Also required are transient response characteristics that amplify even low level signals with impeccable precision. No matter how superior the dynamic range or the frequency charatistics may be, these features are meaningless if the amp cannot instantly follow the sudden rises and falls in sound.

Strength:

Tremendous amplifier. I was fortunate enough to be in a position to directly compare it to a Nait 5i, Roksan Kandy K2, Arcam A85 & a Rega Mira 3. All good amplifiers but i just favoured the presentation of the Denon. i found the Nait too fruity, over pratted, the Arcam too civilised, the K2 overblown and the Mira a poor mans Arcam. The Denon sounds akin to a quality pre-power, and has that magical ability of making even crap music sound listenable.

Weakness:

i just wish the AV passthrough was accessible via the remote.

Just got it. I almost never write feedback on anything :). But I am so amazed now, I'll want to share it.
Replacing pioneer a6 with this one. Have the pioneer for about 3 years and very happy with it. Speakers Jamo c809.
The only difference in terms of frequencies I can hear is that the voices are more distant on the denon, as opposed to overly exposed on the pioneer (somehow without affecting the linearity). Bass good on both, highs great on both.
And then there is the music preserved on the denon, while somehow not as real on the pioneer. It is just a bliss the way it presents everything on the c809s. So warm, so fast, so wide, so defined. I am listening on volumes that I never reached, and it remains easy on the ears. Trying to find a song where there are annoying peaks in frequencies, but instead I am rendered speechless. And not that anything is missing on the pioneer... but then again, it appears that the music wasn't there.

(PS: Please take my opinion with a pinch of salt, since I am not that experienced with that many amps)

This is a great amp. High quality components and circuitry have been used to achieve highly detailed, analytic and warm sound. It,s not everyday that an Hi-Fi company of reputation launches an stereo amplifier of audiophile quality at relatively moderated price... From delicate pianissimos to great orchestra fortissimos this amp will thrill you again an again in your listening room. The sound it produces is detailed, warm and with tight and precise bass. The voices sound amazing and the soundstage is wide...

The construction is superb. The front panel and all the buttons are made of .aluminium. The gold plated speaker terminals are top-notch quality. Weighting near 15 Kg this amp is built like a rock. Highly recommended.

Strenghts:
Sound quality. It can be delicate and powerful. Detailed and warm output. Moderated price. EISA 2006-07 best 2-channel amplifier winner. Superb construction.

Weaknesses:
None at this price.
