DCM TP160BDP-CH Rear Speaker Bookshelf Speakers

DCM TP160BDP-CH Rear Speaker Bookshelf Speakers

DESCRIPTION

The TP160BDP-CH is a unique speaker with extraordinary engineering. As a true home theatre surround loudspeaker, they can be placed anywhere in the room and still provide brilliant ubiquitous sound because of a bipole/dipole design. It is the perfect complement to any DCM home theatre because it allows the speaker's phasing to be set according to a room's specific acoustics and reflected sound.

When upgrading my speaker system, I decided to pick these speakers up as my surrounds (two pairs). I have the DCM TFE200 tower mains and TFE center speaker. Matched with a good audio system, this seems like a very competant system for movies and music. These speakers are tone matched with the TFE line, and I was more concerned with having the ability to switch between dipole/bipole for surround. My LFE is a DIY 12" TC Sounds subwoofer (ported and with a true 500W amp). I find that sound transitions are pretty seemless in 7.1 or 5.1 tracks, and the included mounting hardware makes setup very easy. I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because the cabinet has an active tweeter on both sides, but it has an active mid/woofer driver on one side (where the bipole switch is) and a passive radiator on the other side. With the shape of the speaker, I notice that there's enough pressure for the passive radiator to displace enough air though. Thought I would note that, though
