Strength:

We often use this when having a small celebration in our house. These speakers are very loud but sound amazing! I would recommend these if you don't want any separate subs or tweeters in a home theatre or just for listening to music! Thank you for recommending this to me Kitchen Cleaning Company.

Weakness:

None so far.

Strength:

Outstanding sound reproduction. Blows away ANYTHING digital. These speakers put out anything I can give them. The bass pounds and the mid and high range is CRYSTAL clear. I’m so glad I dug these out of the basement. It had been 25 years since they were my high school speakers. Such a quality speaker. As good as it gets in this price range.

Weakness:

They are extremely heavy. It takes two people to move them any distance more than a few feet.

Strength:

I purchased these for $80 for the pair in a thrift shop. Aside from one grill needing cleaning everything was intact including the surrounds, I took them home and hooked them up to my Denon Stereo Receiver and put it through its paces. The sound is clean and powerful. The bass is strong and everything I threw at it was just swallowed up with no effort. I had a pair of 1982 Klipsch Heresys with the same setup and I prefer the RE-30s

Weakness:

None in my setup

Strength:

The woofers in these speakers are "extremely" efficient. Even though they are rated each at 250W RMS @ 4-ohms, I have found these speakers can easily handle higher power from a good amplifier. I use a Rockville RPA9 (400W RMS per channel @ 4-ohm ) to drive them in conjunction w/ a DSP comp/limiter/EQ. Great full tight bass response, and great loud overall clear sound quality.

Weakness:

The weakest component in the system are the DT-3 tweeters. I feel they could have used a slightly better one to compliment the high quality woofers and mid-drivers, but they still sound good. The other issue is the use of standard electrolytic capacitors (non-audio grade e-caps) on the passive crossover boards which are known to age over time, which in this case would be 24 years old. The good news is that you can replace these caps with new e-caps or even better caps to fix this issue. In my case, I replaced them with Dayton Audio "polypropylene" capacitors which actually improved the sound, and made the audio separation and overall soundstage more clear.

Strength:

I can't say enough about these speakers! I bought them in 1996. I heard my neighbors system and decided that I wanted a system. I went to Best buy and bought everything I wanted. These RE 30's stuck out the first time I cranked them at about 1/4 ways up. My neighbor immediately came over and was floored by the sound, especially the pounding bass. He said, Dude, you didn't f#@k around did you!? They have been in use every since. If you can, hold on to them as they do not make a quality speaker for this kind of value! You WILL regret getting rid of them!

Weakness:

I have found no issues!

These speakers are very loud but sound amazing! I would recomend these if you dont want any seperate subs or tweeters in a home theater or just for listening to music! These speakers should be valued at a thousand brand new atleast! These put beats to shame and even bose cant beat these things!

Weakness:

Weight is the only defect on these, a small price to pay for such a good outcome.

I've had my RE30s for almost 20 years and they sound great - Cerwin Vega has always had great balance of quality and value for what you pay...

I'm finally able to return to the sounds I dreamed of as a youth.

I heard CV made the 'sensurround' setups in the theaters, (which I heard for myself in 74). I have no doubt this is part of their pedigree. I don't have a Klipsch Cornwall budget, or...what have you. Picked these up for $200. Of course they can be loud, but I've been doing some listening at low to medium levels with my Carver TFM-45, (cheap Kenwood preamp), and CD source material. I like them for more than just room shaking, (which they *will* do), but I'm an old jazz rocker. Donald Fagen Nightfly sounds great, Grover Washington Inner City Blues was really dynamic if not startling. Phil Keaggy - (the song wtihin) lots of acoustic guitar - really shined. (shone?) Dream Theater--rocks, and these are built for just that but I think the CVRE30s actually benefit from cleaner source material. It's a soul upgrade for me for sure.
