Strength:

I got hardcore into Linn recently. I started with Tukans and soon bought 2 pairs of amps and the Kolektor after chasing heavy extruded aluminum macho components. once I heard my LK85 beat my Class A Threshold amp I knew this kit was the real deal. Lincoln Reefer Unit Repair

The Kudos is a GREAT match to my modest but so musical system (Accuphase E202 amp, LS3/5a Rogers speakers and Ikemi CD player). Considering the Kudos was over $1600 new, I was expecting it to be good.
The truth is, with a decent antenna, it sounds as good as my Ikemi CD player!!! In other words, it sounds very VERY musical. I surely don't feel the need to upgrade, I couldn't be more happy with my system now.

Strength:

Strength:

CD quality reproduction when used in conjunction with a quality antenna

Weakness:

Switching from FM > AM confusing.

The module allows a Linn Majik I owner to convet the unit into a reciever. This is not as heavy an investment as the Kremlin and does not take up more shelf space in that the module fits into the Majik I.

Strength:

Tremendous transparant delivery of even the faintest channels. Compact size with AM. Great functioning remote, with 50 channel presets.

Weakness:

A little confusing to use without the remote. A very small price to pay since I use the remote

I didn't want to pay this much for a tuner ($1800) but I got to a stage in my life where I wanted quality hi-fi. This Linn Kudos tuner is flat out like listening to a cd. Nice clear highs, acurate midrange and surprisingly tight low bass. The FM noise? well, there isn't any, thats why I often think there is a cd playing. This is a high quality tuner that may be hard to find new in the USA now. I recently heard Linn is sending the US a cheaper ($1000) tuner called the Pekin and discontinuing the Kudos here. The Kudos will still be available to Europe PROBABLY WITHOUT THE BRILLIANT, SWITCHABLE, POWER SUPPLY IT NOW HAS. Linn's flagship tuner the Kremlin is still available everywhere. That will be the Tuner I eventualy will upgrade to...

An advent 300 is all I have for comparison. It was a fine tuner and phono preamp for its day, but no comparison to the Kudos.

Strength:

cd quality sound, very good base response for a tuner

Weakness:

display could be larger - hard to read from any distance
controls a little difficult to use without remote

I recently purchased a Linn Kudos and i have to say im very impressed with the overall sound quality, which i would compare to near CD. what impresses me the most is the bass this tuner can re-create, it gets pretty low while not sounding tubby.
I actually think it has a cleaner and fuller/richer sound than my Magnum Dynalab FT101A.
It also does a good job of pulling in distant stations.
At $1800 they are not cheap but if you use a tuner alot like i do than its definitely worth listening to.
Apparently this tuner will now be replaced by a cheaper version called the Peking at about $1000.
