Strength:

Great product, awesome pic.

Weakness:

Umm..

Bought this TV after looking at various models, including, Samsung, RCA, Sony, Advent, JVC. I bought this set since it had the most deep picture. They colours were deep and very clear images. Works very well with DVD's. Just an awesome TV. I didnt not experience the previous reviewers problems. I show no signs of what he is reporting with my set. Perhaps they fixed the little glich. Would buy again.

Strength:

Other than picture tube defect, good feature set, bright picture, nice colors.

Weakness:

- Picture tube defect. - Possibly weak remote control (but this could be the batteries supplied - haven't tested)

Bought after some research to replace a ten year old Mitsubishi 20". Research indicated best 20" choices were JVC, Sony, Toshiba tube TVs (LCD etc. out of price range). Came down to top-end Sony and Toshiba tube sets (JVC eliminated because set was too big, and weakness in sound quality). Toshiba $230 and Sony $280, so went with Toshiba - nearly identical specs and reviews as far as I could see. After hooking up I immediately noticed Moire patterns. These could not be eliminated by adjusting sharpness etc. Later I noticed that horizontal lines were not horizontal on the screen. I suspect that the scan paths are not horizontal on the screen, creating both effects. Subsequent research indicates that Moire has been a problem in older Toshiba flat screen models. I have a 32" non-flat Toshiba which also has had a problem (partial speaker failure), and this experience and some further research makes me distrust Toshiba quality control in general. I plan to return the set. (Aside from the defect, calibrating the set with Video Essentials was promising - the middle-of-the-range factory settings for brightness, color, and tint were spot-on, unlike those for a lower-end JVC 27" that I purchased last year.)
