Weakness:

none yet

The picture quality is incredible. I use it in my bedroom and have not had any of the audio problems that many have had on this site. the color and clarity is better than my 36" rca. I use it often for dvd movies and I am in awe of the picture. the audio is not an issue here for I have a surround sound system for dvd and vhs movies.

Strength:

Picture quality is superb,great sound

Weakness:

no component video in(no big deal though)S-video looks the same

I have had this TV for about 3 months now and it's been doing fine. I first saw this model in a J&R catalog and
I had to have it. I ended up buying if from Circuit City here in town. When I opened the box I noticed that it
was larger than I thought. I quickly connected the cable here at school, and my DVD player. I noticed that
most of the cable channels here were not as they should be, but for the most part the channels looked fair to
poor. Some of the channels displayed depth and warm colors, but some displayed or showed that the company here wasn't doing a good job on the service that they provided. Well, I got to the good part which was hooking up my DVD player(S-Video). The picture was outstanding. I could hardly believe that this TV was displaying such a beautiful image. As I pluged up the audio jacks, the sound was great also. The virtual surround did well to. I usually don't use it because I'm usually playing the sound from the reciever. Well anyway about 2-3 weeks ago I started to get a flicker when I changed the channel from one to the other, and at the same time my S-video jack just wouldn't respond to what I was feeding it. So I did some checks and remove most of the stuff that was around it. That didn't get rid of it yet, so I did one of the next steps and that was to unplug it and plug it back up again. The problems wasn't there anymore. I don't know what caused this but I hope that it stops. I have only done this now about three times, but if it continues I'm going to have it looked at.(****always buy extended warranty for your equipment***)
Overall though, one of the best TV's I played with.

Strength:

great picture, good sound..

Weakness:

digital comb filter crashed...

Great t.v. and picture, but the 3 line digital comb filter crashed out on me after one week.. Meaning the texts on the bottom of the screen looked blurry, rather than sharp. I will be returning this to circuit city. I think this t.v. is very sensitive. The manager told me that the comb filter is hard to distract. little does he know...

The best Sony for the size and money...

Weakness:

Geometry still an issue...

Well, I make videos (and films) for a living, and my professional Sony PVM-341 kicked recently. O.K., so I bought this KV-20FV10 with reservations. I mean I'm used to very stable and accurate color with the PVM-1341: but there was no way I was going to pay $600+ to fix this little thing.
So, am I happy with the purchase? Well, at less than $410 shipped to my house I am, I really am!!!
Yes, the geometry may be a little off (on the top right corner), but the color and stability is fantastic. In many ways better than the "pro" monitor I was using.
Yellows are great, blues are great, greens are great!!! Sharpness is like film! Cable looks better (what can one say about cable - accept get away from the box (if you can)). DVD is (as others have said) like 3D. Blacks are black and whites are without (much, if any) blooming.
Sony has really reached a new pinnacle with this series. So, good luck with yours!

Strength:

Picture quality, brushed aluminum-style design

Weakness:

Can't put a VCR on top of the TV.

I was returning to my small hometown from LA to start my four years of college life, and I wanted a TV that was not only incredibly nice but small and portable enough to fit in with dorm room living arrangements.
As stated by every other review, the picture quality is unparalleled and the addition of an S-Video input is a Godsend. I havn't dealt with any of the problems people have stated about audio, but I'm not an audiophile, and the audio is always piped through my surround amp anyway.

Strength:

good picture when working

Weakness:

a few listen up!

O.k. i took this back to curcuit city. cause the first one i got after a week, the digital comb filter crapped out. Meaning the sharp digital text letterings went blurry. took it back and got another one.. the next one instead of the screen being black, it was red. I got credit for the new ones coming out in june. maybe i was just getting bad apples.. But they were manufactred from sony this year.. anyone else experince this. that the picture just doesn't look the same as when you got it.. not as sharp. But when working correctley its a great picture..

Strength:

Picture quality

Weakness:

1) For a 20" TV, it's quite deep
2) The S-video problem (mentioned above)

I walked into the store, and this was the only TV that caught my attention. The picture quality is amazing. It's going to be a shame to watch on any other TV.

Similar to another reviewer, I had problems with the S-video. I was watching the DVD movie 'Matrix' which is a dark-colour movie. When the movie swiched between sceens (black screen), the TV's input signal couldn't read it, and the dumb neon green 'Video 1'message pops up for a second. This continued through the video.
The TV comes with standard RCA jacks, so one can watch the movie, without having these interuptions.

Strength:

really flat screen

Weakness:

bulky

when the screen on my trusty jvc turned started showing psychadelic colors (everyone looked green!) i selected the sony wega for a replacement.

the tube of the six year old jvc set gave an excellent picture with fully saturated color. to me, the sony's tube had a more laid back, desaturated look, but brightening up the color made it too intense and strident looking. the picture is sharper however, and the sharpness extends all the way to the edges of the screen.

sound is ok, adaquate for ordinary viewing, but not good enough for movies or music. too much of that am radio sound. use a separate hifi for critical listening.

a lot of people seem to be complaining about the remote, but it is better than the jvc remote i'm used to. the buttons are easier to reach when held with either hand. my complaint is that the buttons are too sensitive -- just brushing a button is enough to change the channel.

Strength:

Beautiful picture quality

Weakness:

Buzzing sound from speakers.

I went to purchase the Sony KV20FV10, but found out it was replaced with the Sony KV20FV12. I wanted to post this review under Sony Model KV20FV12, but noticed this product had not been setup.

Please be aware, the KV20FV10 is an old model. Insist on getting the updated model.

Immediately after turning on the TV I noticed a buzzing sound coming from the speakers. The unit was then boxed, and returned.

I then recieved a new unit which had the same buzzing noise. I decided to call Sony and was advised they have had no complaints concerning the buzzing sound. I tried to explain to the service representative that this was a new model, but he did not really care. I then tried to explain to the service rep there could be a major problem with this new unit, but once again he wasn't concerned. I finally gave up, after I insisted a Sony repair person come to my house and test the unit. The service rep said this can not be done.

I have no idea what the problem is at Sony. I was trying to advise them about a problem but they really didn't care.

I really enjoy the picture quality of this unit and want to keep it, but the buzzing from the speakers will force me to return it.

Strength:

Great picture...a little bright maybe, but maybe I'm just not used to it.

Weakness:

Turns off whenever "it" feels like it.

The first KV-20FV12 which Crutchfield sent me wouldn't even turn on. So I sent it back free and they were very nice and sent me a replacement. This one works but does indeed turn itself off for unknown reasons. I had it on tonight and within 45 minutes it turned itself off twice! What the heck is going on? I called Crutchfield and they said that they had never heard of it. I said I think I've read some reviews of the Wega's where this happens. He says, well, you can't believe everything you read on the Internet. I said, first I read it and know it happens so I believe it! It's within the 30 days (actually within the 15 days of the 2nd set), so I might return this one (!) instead of trying to get it repaid. Please email me at onedogwoof@earthlink.net if you've had similar problems. Thanks.
