Strength:

Excellent picture quality and sound

Weakness:

lack of information on the user manual

bought it brand new and it is the last one so I got great deal on it. It is discontinue now because the new one I think Samsung will build in the digital receiver inside it so it won't require separate hdtv receiver for it. But this is real deal compare to sony wega. Comparable picture to XBR.

Strength:

picture quality; sound quality; split screen PIP

Weakness:

not-so-ergonomic remote; very HEAVY tv

well, thanks to the previous reviews on this site, i was able to make an educated decision on buying this samsung. i opted to buy this tv, as opposed to the just-released upgraded model, which is HDTV ready (as opposed to EDTV). i just didnt think it was worth the extra $500 for a format which only a handful of networks broadcast.

i am more than happy with this television. compared to the sony wegas (not including the xbr's) and panasonic tau's that were on display, i thought the features and picture of the samsung were superior. it's d-tv ready, for goodness sakes; the wegas (not including the xbr's) are not! i think it's true that samsung is offering more for less to try to be a player in the high-end tv market. and that's a good thing for us consumers!

the menus and level of control over the sound and picture are excellent. i connected my sony dvd player with a monster component cable and the picture is AMAZING! i compared the component picture with the S-cable picture and there was no contest. the 4 speaker system truly kicks butt (plus the speakers on the back look super-cool)! with the volume on 30, my floor started to shake, when watching "the matrix." the split-sceen PIP is really great! you can split the screen between cable and dvd, which is kinda cool and useful. the av jacks on the side of the monitor is a nice touch, too.

i'm not to crazy about the universal remote. my only gripe is how you choose between "tv," "vcr," "cable," and "dvd." you have to press thru to the selection, as opposed to having separate buttons for each. oh well.. i would've also like to seen a more extensive manual....

also, the tip on getting a 10db signal booster ($29 at radio shack) from a previous reviewer was very helpful in making my cable signal more worthy of this tv set.

finally, i also agree that if you buy this set, you should get it delivered. 170 lbs is HEAVY! i live in a 4th floor walk-up and had the car service that i used send an extra guy to help out. boy was i glad i did...

overall, this televeision is an amazing value, especially for a d-tv. i'm more than satisfied!

now i have to go out and buy more dvd's...

Strength:

Beautiful/vivid picture quality

Weakness:

needs more than just one HDTV capable/480P component video input

This set was right next to the Sony XBR450 in the show room of my local store. The price is $400 lower than the Sony.
Unlike grainy texture on Sony XBR450, this set provided more vivid and natural image on HDTV/DVD pictures. It is a keeper for your investment. I feel if this set provids more HDTV capable/480P component input(s), I would given a value rating of 5 stars. But based one the picture quality and the price, the overal rating will be 5 stars.

Strength:

Just about everything. Picture is incredible.

Weakness:

Only on DTV input. Heavy. Large.

What can I say - this TV is incredible. I looked at the Sony HD Wega's and went with this for half the price. The picture in my mind looked clearer, more alive. After watching this for a while now normal TV doesn't even compare. DVDs are unbelievable, even normal satellite TV is incredible. If you can find one of these - buy it. A great product. I guess people aren't happy with the remote, or the lack of inputs, etc. - but I am so happy with the picture quality I just don't care about anything else, and the price! You can't get a standard WEGA for this price.

Strength:

480p and 1080i inputs with spectacular 480p image quality, good color, built in line doubler

Weakness:

No direct input selection, poor manual, geometry not perfect out of the box, only one custom video setting, terrible remote

I bought this TV when the price dropped to $999.00, and I'm very happy with the performance. This is one of the few digital direct view TVs available, and offers a huge amount of performance for the price. The monitor is not HD, since its native resolution is 480p, but since I have no HDTV in my area yet and won't for a few years it made no sense to spend twice as much on a 1080i native display. All my complaints are relatively minor, but I want the thing to be as perfect as possible. This TV offers 480p input capability on the component video inputs, and will also accept 1080i, but downsamples to 480p for display. With my progressive scan DVD, the picture is absolutely spectacular, as good as any direct-view HDTV I've seen with 480p source material. The internal line doubler acting on the S-video signal from my DirecTiVo system offers a good, scan-line free picture, but is nothing compared to progressive scan DVD. Using the Avia test DVD, I was able to properly set all the picture controls to get a correct picture excepting a 20% red push. Lowering the color led to a 10% red push and a -10% de-saturation of green and blue, which seems to be pretty good for an off the shelf, uncalibrated TV. From a magazine review of the 30" widescreen tantus, I found that the "warm" picture setting is the closest to 6500K (it's 8300K). I also accesed the service menu and turned off the velocity modulation, and adjusted the geometry. I have the service manual, and would not recommend screwing with the geometry without it.

As far as problems go, the geometry sucked a little out of the box, but that's the case with every flat screen CRT. Tweeking the geometry resulted in a good picture in the center of the screen, but there's still some pincushion at the corners and edges. Also, the 16:9 squeeze mode has a slight bow-tie shape. This is slightly annoying but not too bad. I will continue to try and tweek the geometry, but I think I have to accept that I'll never get it perfect. Even with no tweeking, it's much better than the Panasonic 32" Tau TV, and many Sony Wegas I have seen.

Other annoyances are a really bad manual. It makes absolutely no mention of how to hook up a progressive scan DVD. There is one component input on the back, but the source menu shows two: DVD and DTV. DVD is interlaced component, and DTV is for 480p and 1080i. Unintuitively, you need to select DTV your progressive scan DVD not "DVD". The manual makes absolutely no attempt to explain this.

Also, there is only one custom picture setting. At least there are numbers to go along with the bars so you can re-set all the picture controls exactly if they change. This is a problem since the proper black level setting (brightness) is very different for 16:9 squeeze and 4:3. There is no direct input selection. You need to toggle through all the inputs to select the correct one. I have a Philips Pronto, and this toggle input selection makes it impossible to make a macro to automatically switch to the correct input since the pronto doesn't know what input you're currently on.

All in all, I'm very happy with the TV for the money. While I want perfection, you can't get it for $1000. Given that many of my other stereo components cost many times what the TV did, I can't complain too much about the shortfalls of this TV.

Strength:

Great picture and price. 480p and 1080p capability. Scan doubler. Flat screen. 2 tuner PIP.

Weakness:

Heavy.

I was looking for a Sony flat screen 32" TV and found this Samsung at Costco instead. At first I was hesitant since I did not know how reliable Samsung products are. After some research it seems they are no worse than most and better than some, so I decided to take a chance. In the store this set was lined up with about 20 others all playing the same picture. The difference was incredible. The flat screen and scan double seem to make all tghe difference between an average picture and an outstanding one.

I have only had the set for 2 weeks but I am very satisfied with it. DVDs look as good as watching in a movie theater and the sound out of the TV speakers is great (I do plan to hook it to my audio setup). I thought the speakers were on the front of the set facing forward (and they may be there). When I unpacked the set I saw two large speakers on the top of the set sitting over the neck of the picture tube (not visible from the front). Probably the reason for the good sound.

On the downside: The set is heavy - 163 pounds but I don't plan on moving it much. The remote could be better and the manual is just OK.

For $900, I considered this set to be a steal. The features are comparable to the Sony XBR series which is twice the price. Although I did not see the Samsung and Sony side by side, I could not expect a better picture than I am getting with the Samsung.

Strength:

digital picture, sound, nice remote and menu system.

Weakness:

hard to move, only one set of comp video imputs.

Bought this tv to go into my new home living room, after having it for a couple of weeks I began having picture problems where the pic would intermittantly turn purple with criss cross patterns throughout. Was going to have a new one delivered, but began to have second thoughts and had it replaced with a Sony 32xbr instead, no comparison in pictures, the sony is by far superior, although it costs considerably more, the samsung has some nice features and seems like a lot of bang for the buck, but when spending this amount of money on a tv it really is depressing when it doesn't work and you don't have the confidence that it will be better in the future.

Great picture. Pro Logic sound is fantastic. Nice looking set.

Weakness:

DO NOT COUNT ON ANY SUPPORT FROM THE SAMSUNG SUPPORT SERVICES IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Set is very heavy.

Samsung may have great products but buyer please beware that Samsung Support Services are basically non-existent. My set has been at the service center since the beginning of December and is still there for the simple fact that
the service center cannot get the technical information they need from Samsung in order to fix my television. So think twice before purchasing a Samsung product. I ignored the warnings and am experiencing the "support" problems first hand.
The TSK3292F is an absolutely fabulous product but I wish it was possible to rate the support services of the manufacturer here. Therefore the product rating will
suffer because of the manufacturer's incooperative
attitude.
I will post again as soon as I have had the chance to
enjoy my television again....whenever that may be!!

Strength:

Progressive Scan, nice bass

Weakness:

skimpy manual (no index), the set is heavy so it should be packaged accordingly (lots of them get damaged in shipping). Examine yours at the store to spare yourself a return trip even if the box looks OK

Picture quality is great. I like the absence of annoying lines the most. Details seem to be sharper as Progressive Scan claims they should be. In a setup where the TV is hooked up to a 4922 DishNet receiver using a brand-name S-video cable, I got some problems when ocasionally there is interference on all channels in the shape of reddish-green vertical bars on the screen (every 2 inches). That comes and goes. Could be something else. The sound is great, so there is little need to plug it into an audio system unless you are heavily into surround sound. I give that TV a rating of 4, if I find out that the problem I've just described is cabling then it would be without doubts a solid 5

Strength:

nice looking set, excellent picture when signal is strong. DVDs look great.

Weakness:

owner's manual lacks info.

Researched this purchase for a month or so. I was considering the panasonic 32" tau, Sony kv32fs12 and JVC 36" d-series. I stumbled upon the Samsung set at the dealer and found that there isn't much information about it on the web.

The Tantus was beside a Sony 32" WEGA XBR, and the sony WEGA kv32fs12 at the store all playing the same DVD. Although I must admit that the XBR had a better picture, this TV was $1000 cheaper, and the picture was markedly better than the kv32fs12. I didn't get a chance to compare it sided-by-side with the Tau set(non digital).

After using the TV for a few months now I am happy with the purchase. The colours a vivid, although I had to turn down the amount of redness. The picture is very sharp as long as the cable signal is strong. I bought a 10db signal booster which was well worth the $15 investment. I do find that some channels are grainy in appearance, and that it's not the best TV for watching sports. When watching a hockey game on the long angle shots, the players look slightly "digitized" or blocky, but I find this a minor annoyance.

DVDs look great, I have a Sony DVP-360, and the image looks crystal clear.

Playstation games often loose some details, I can no longer see the faces of the characters on Streetfighter, compared to my old toshiba.
I have yet to use the progressive scan technology, but it can only be an improvement over an already great picture.

Sound from the speakers is very good, the bass is excellent considering its coming from the provided speakers.

The TV weighs a ton! So get it delivered if you can.

Overall I am very pleased, the TV comes with a three year warrantee, with in-home service. I purchased it because it was only about $150 premium over the no digital sets from Sony and Panasonic. I was a little bit concerned because it's a Samsung, but the three year warrantee, and there reputation in monitors made me feel a little better. So pay a little more and get a better picture compared to the KV32fs12, you won't be disappointed!

One more thing. Can you turn off the velocity scan on this set. The manual has no mention of this.
