Excellent picure, sound and all kinds of hook ups in back(2 s-video etc..)

I have had this TV for about 8 months and i love it!!!! I bought it at circuit city, $899.99 but i bought the floor model for $649(couldn't turn down the huge discount) yes i realize how often it was on but i still get the same warranty as if it were in box. The picture is awesome, same if not better than sony's trinitron stuff. Sound good out of speakers, i have mine connected to a dd/dts receiver and yamaha speakers, unreal!!! Please do this TV justice and get satellite(directv or dishnetwork) cable in my area(Time Warner) is terrible!!!(picture quality sucks) If you get satellite you will see just how good this TV really is!!!!!

Speakers/unit emits annoying high pitch sound.

High Pitch sounds that occurs too often for my viewing pleasures. I have to check to see if my warranty will cover fixing this problem, but I doubt it since it's been over a year since I purchased it. It is quite annoying. This unit would get a 5 star rating hands down if it weren't for this problem.

Reliability, remote when switching back to TV from DVD

I've had a 32500 (very similar to 32700 except for 2nd tuner PIP and INVAR mask - this review will exclude comments on these features, but otherwise the units are the same) for 1 year now with heavy use. This is generally a good TV, but reliability is very suspect.

Con's:
I've had the unit serviced twice, and nearly a third time. The first time was to repair a persistent piercing high pitch whenever the TV was on. The problem got worse as time went on. Transformer was replaced under warranty. The second repair was for a picture that would dissolve to "snow" after it was warmed up. Again, fixed under warranty.

These two problems will likely cause me to forgoe any Proscan purchases in the future. My third issue was a persistent buzz after I had received it back from service, but it was simply a bad ground, and after adjusting a bunch of cables in the back, it was fine.

The remote is user friendly, but when switching to TV mode (no cable box) from DVD should be easier. I have to press the "TV" button to have the remote understand that it is in TV mode, then toggle through the various sources using the input button. This differs from going from TV to DVD mode, because then I just hit the "DVD" button.

Pro's
Excellent picture quality. I've used Video Essentials, and only minor modifications were necessary, and afterward the picture is great.

When not doing HT, I use the built-in sound system, and have been generally pleased with it (recognizing its limitations).

Aesthetically, the product is top shelf, IMHO. This is probably more important for TV's than other products due to the sheer size of them and their usual prominence in a room.

Conclusion
A good unit marred by persistent reliability problems. Had I not had the reliability issues, I'd try to go 4.5 stars (.5 star deduction for remote issue), but given the reliability, its merely 3 stars.

I also think that the sound quality is excellent. I think this set has everything you need for the price. I looked at the cinema series as well as the Panasonic Flat TVs'which were both great televisions but for more money than I was willing to spend. I was a little hesitant at first buying a RCA due to some things I heard about their reliability but the Proscan line seems to be better and so far so good for me. I will update this review at the anniversary of my purchase.

Hopefully with a little help from my friends here at audioreview I will be able to get this darn Guide plus to work

Nothing really.

As I said before, the picture quality is top notch and the guide plus is a very nice feature. S-video isn't something unusual, but my last TV didn't have it, so it's nice. Wish it had component video for my DVD, but if I wanted that I could have gotten the HDTV ready counterpart for this TV at twice the price, but I don't care that much. As for the sound, I used to have it hooked up to an Onkyo, but then I bought the Sony STR-DB930 which turned out to suck (do not buy), so that was returned and I am awaiting the Denon AVR-2800 to come, and in the mean time I have to use, God forbid, regular TV sound. It sounds very good for a regular TV, but of course not as good as surround. So I reccommend the TV for people who want a new TV but don't want to spend thousands just for these HDTV's which won't be popular for another 5 years, and in those 5 years there will probably be changes that will make buying a HDTV now pointless. The Proscan is a good TV for now, that will last until HDTV is cheap and common.

Best Picture Quality and Sound for the buck!!
The Guide Plus Gold is a very nice feature.

At inconsistent times when first turned on it gives off a subtle high pitched sound from inside the TV lasting about 5-10 seconds. Doesn't happen very often though. Doesn't have Component output for newer DVD Players that utilized component Video.

This is a very attractive Model and has some hi-end picture components such as the Invar Shawdow Mask to keep the color from distorting. The simulated Enhanced surround sound is excellent and the Guide Plus feature makes no need for the TV Guide. 2 tuners makes PIP the best! I picked this TV up for $799.00 and consider it to be among the best in this price range. 845 lines of Horizontal resoltion compared to the Sony Trinitron 500 lines. Not much more you can ask for.

Impressive! For any that don't know, Proscan is RCA's top of the line TV. I remember long ago our family had two sets, an RCA 25" and A Sony 25". Believe it or not the RCA still works today after 18 years, including accurate color. The Sony has since passed on. I must say this Proscan set is up there, its not HDTV but it can put out up to 845 lines of H. res., more than any other set, and is HDTV ready. I considered one of Sony's FD Trinitron Wega's, but just could not afford it. I have been very pleased with the Proscan, the color and sound are unreal, it has a softer focus than any other set and is more pleasing to the eye in a darker room. This recreates an almost realistic theatre experience. The projectors at a theater produce a soft focus, do to the screen. I compared it to the Panasonic Flat screen also a very nice TV, but the Proscan just did a lot more for the money. It has the TV Guide plus Gold and a host of other cool features that I thought outdid the Panasonic. There is no doubt that the Trinitron Wega's have the best picture, but for the money this is most definitely a set you should consider. Besides RCA/Proscan has announced a total recommitment to all its products, but continues to give its Proscan line the most vigorous QA in the industry. Thumbs up for this product!

I recently bought this set through Netmarket and have been very pleased with it. I compaired it with sets from Toshiba, and Sony and overall like the Proscan picture and sound. I've just recently added a DVD player and the picture quality really begins to shine.
Short of moving up to the higer end Sony (for a lot more money then I could afford)I've been very pleased with the Proscan.

The sound quality of the PS32700 is excellent. Unless I'm watching a DVD I generally don't use my home theare sound. The picture is very accurate, the white uniforms on professional sports teams are truly white. My favorite feature of this TV is the Guide Plus Gold, which has a free interactive TV Guide. Not only can you see the current TV listings online, but you can choose to record any program on your VCR by one touch programming. It did take me a while to figure out how to set up the Guide Plus, my zip code has 3 cable companies; and I finnally got the remote infrared sensor on the correct location on my VCR (after trial and error).
The documentation was very poor and that's why I give this television a rating of 4, in addition there is no official web site for proscan to get additional help. Although RCA / Thompson Electronics will support this product. I also looked at the Sony 32" XBR, but could not rationalize spending twice as much. The sonys are also very expensive to repair and seem to pick up every imperfection. This TV sells for $850 in Tops in NYC. This TV also has two SVideo inputs and an additional input in the front (3 in all). The two separate tunners on the Picture in Picture in an excellent feature. Gone are the days of having to turn on your VCR for PIP.

I hope that ProScan puts up a web site and that they improve the documentation.

Didn't not Turn ON constistantly I would have to unplug for an hour from time to time AVG. 1-3 times a week

The television would not turn on from time to time from day one talked to the store, about exchanging it they said they had a one yr parts and labor then told me to try a variety of things before they brought it in to repair it NEVER CAME AND GOT IT Asked again for an exchange after never came and got it. they said I had to talk to Thomson Electronics they said it's got a warrentee I took it to another ATHUTERIZED SERVICE CENTER NEVER FIXED PROBLEM. Then went back to store told them I wanted a refund they said no you have to talk to thomson electronics. They said you have to talk to the store I bought it they said you've had it 4-5 months now you have to talk to thomson electronics they said you have to write our Review board NOW waiting on review board...
I have been going round and round with People over this television for 4-5 months now
I have put Thomson electronics in my home for the last time...(PROSCAN, RCA, OR ANY THOMSON ELECTRONICS ITEM.

fOR THE MONEY I PAID this television was not worth the money I paid...
