Strength:

EXCELLANT PICTURE,EASY TO USE REMOTE

Weakness:

SOUND IS A LITTLE TINNY

GREAT TV, EXCELLANT FEATURES FOR A $399.00 SET. REMOTE WAS ADEQUATE, WISH IT WAS LIGHTED THOUGH. SOUND FROM AMBIENCE SETTING WAS NON AUDIBLE AT BEST. NEWER MODELS ( D SERIES) SOUND MUCH BETTER, BUT ALL IN ALL I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE TV, DEFINATELY WOULD BUY ANOTHER JVC PRODUCT.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality, menu settings can be performed
on front of set.

Weakness:

Tube could be flatter, sound from speakers a little on the thin side.

Had initially purchased the Panasonic from H.H. Gregg on
sale for $347..however the unit i received was defective, so I took it back for an exchange..they were out of the Panasonic, so they offered the JVC 27050 instead. I accepted
the unit and have not regretted it since. As stated above,
the TV has excellent picture quality, especially on DVD's
of course. Based on my experience with this unit, my next
TV will be a JVC. My only negative comment about unit as that the tube could be flatter.....(One thing I did prefer
the Panasonic over the JVC about). But that is a minor gripe
given the excellent performance of the TV in all other areas.

Initially, I purchased an AV27950 model in Sears. As I was waiting for them to deliver it, someone told me the "9" was substituted to "0" in the latest line of JVC TVs. As a pleasant surprise, Sears automatically upgraded my purchase to an AV279050. I called JVC -- the only difference between the two sets was in a digital comb filter of 050 as opposed to an analog one in 950. Otherwise, they're identical. The manual, however, doesn't say a word about comb filters; JVC's representative has told me the info on that is found in technical brochures only.
The set has S-video, RF, and a pair of A/V inputs as well as A/V outputs. For the screen this size, I didn't have to worry for the lack of component inputs present in "D" series sets (and, according to this web site, these units may be somewhat problematic in displaying the colors correctly).

The picture quality is just great. It gets better yet when produced by a DVD hooked up via S-video input. I particularly liked the remote which was very convenient to hold and operate. The OSD menu is very nice and straightforward to use.

This is probably going to be my last analog set purchased; I give it well-deserved five stars.

I purchased this TV from Crutchfield and have been very satisified with it. The picture quality is excellent with good rendering of even fine details. Color accuracy is very good. Sound quality is good with the built in speakers. I have had the TV for about 4 years and it has worked perfectly. You would be hard pressed to find a better TV for anywhere near the price.

Strength:

excellent picture quality, dual-tuner PIP

Weakness:

no component inputs (JVC's newer models have them)

A great TV for the price. Sharp picture, sound quality as good as can be expected from TV speakers, and OK remote. Would highly recommend - will definitely tide me over until digital TV becomes a worthwhile option.

Strength:

Great picture, s-video input, comb filter.

This is a great TV. After reading some of the reviews I narrowed it down between this one and the Sony KV-27S46. After careful deliberation I decided on the JVC because the picture on the Sony television looked crooked. The picture on this TV is outstanding and comb filter works really well. I don't know about the speakers because I get my sound from my mini-theater. The S-Video input works great and it really cleans up the picture from my DTV cable box. Considering that this will be the last analog set that I buy, I have to say that my money was well spent.

Strength:

Easy to access service menu, two independent video inputs

Weakness:

slightly curved screen

I mostly use this TV for DVD (using s-video input) and some VHS tapes (composite) and it has been a great investment. Not having the budget or space for a larger set I have been impressed with this unit. The fact that I can easily access the service menu and "squeeze" the set to 16x9 proportions has given me an amazing picture on DVDs. The user programmable video setting is also preferable to the "standard" or factory presets after using a disc like AVIA or Video Essentials. The "theater" picture setting produces an ugly, orange picture but that doesn't matter much - just don't use it. I don't use the speakers on the set much, but they are adequate.
