Strength:

Great tuner, nice picture, decent price

Weakness:

The dismal remote, jack pack sucks. There is just one A/V jack and it is overridden by an S-Video cable...I'll explain later...

I've had this TV for 2 weeks. Sorry to say, but I will be bringing it back to Sears shortly. I'll start off with the good features. First, the internal tuner flips through the channels quickly and easily. It displays a great picture through normal cable. There is virtually no dot crawl. I should also mention that this TV costed me just $340 with tax from Sears. That's about all this TV boasts. The jack pack is nothing but a mistake. The back of the TV has 1 A/V, 1 S-Video, and 1 RFU input. It also has Audio outs. This wouldn't be so bad, BUT, the S-video overrides the A/V inputs. Simply having an S-video plug connected to the TV makes the A/V component's picture black, white, and fuzzy. So in other words, this TV has S-video OR A/V inputs...not both. This prevents it from being compatible with my mini-home theatre. The remote is also a peice of crap. It is amazingly hard to see in the dark, as well as in daylight. All the buttons are small, black rectangles. The lables are not printed on the buttons, but instead above the buttons. Also, the tiny labels are dark grey. It is easily the worst remote I've ever seen. So, if you don't mind crappy remotes and don't plan on hooking many components up, go buy this Hitachi. As for me, I'm gonna go get the Toshiba CZ27V51.

Strength:

Great picture. Great Sound. All the best features, especially for anyone who plans to use DVDs. Great value for the price.

Weakness:

The remote is small and is not lit for night use.

This TV has a great picture! Much better than most of the other brands we looked at in the same price range. The picture is comparable to the Sony Trinitron and at half the cost. The 600 lines of resolution put it far above most TVs in this price range. The TV includes front video/stereo jacks for a camcorder or games. The rear plug panel includes an S-Video input for DVDs which most of the others lacked. The colors are true and the picture is extremely clear even when using a VCR or receiving broadcast TV over an old fashioned antenna. Audio is great from the 10 watt stereo front firing speakers and the surround sound mode adds realism. The universal remote is small and not lit but still works great with other brand components we have. In fact, a lot better than the original remotes from our other brand TVs and VCRs. We liked this TV so well we went back to Sams and bought a second TV just like it for another room.
