Strength:

Big, 20" TV in the kitchen. Good picture quality with unusual viewing angle capability. Lightweight and thin (something I'm not). Sound is OK. Cool factor.

Weakness:

No PIP Expensive No digital tuner Clumsy external brick power supply

Good news and bad news. Bad: LCD sets are still very expensive since my 20" Aquos has a 640x480 native pixel count and I'm typing this review on a KDS 19" flat LCD monitor with a native pixel resolution of 1280x1024 and paid $799 for it at a retail store (highly recommended, BTW). That's a lot to pay for a TV tuner. Also for $1,600, it wouldn't have killed them to have PIP or some audio controls. If they had a digital tuner, I would have opted for the 16x9 model but since I will not have a DVD player connected (used in the kitchen), there would be no source for 16x9 except for a few widescreen analog shows such as ER. This model will not allow a 90 deg. vertical viewing angle either, and tilts back at a minimum of 12 degrees... annoying for kitchen counter viewing from the table. Good: So why did we but this TV? For one, the viewing angles, especially from the bottom, are far superior to any LCD TV other than Aquos and any of my flat screen computer monitors. Really amazing in a way. 2: It's cool looking. My wife loved its appearance and we all know that looks count (that's why I married her!). 3: It was the only solution to replace a 13" conventional TV with a 20" model and still fit under the cabinet. 4: Despite the small speakers (underneath on this model), the sound is pretty good for what it is. 5. The non-glare totally flat screen is a pleasure to watch. After adjustments, the instant 3-level brightness control is very convenient. If you have extra money lying around (we didn't, but we're a little crazy), look at this model seriously.
