I too have the same problem whith my Sony KDF55WF655, the blue stars are all over and now the power supply died. I contacted Sony and I got the same run-around and they told me that they placed a recall on their website like if the consumers spend their time visiting it. Since I was a little boy I remember my dad telling us that if you buy Sony you would not go wrong, well I think after all of Sony support for their costumers I will NEVER EVER again buy a sony product for as long as I shall live!

Shame , Shame , Shame is all I can distribe about Sony.
I bought my KDF-55WF655 LCD HDTV in Nov 2004, thought I was staying with the best quality TV's I have bought for 20 years. First of the TV is great then later lamps, optical blocks, and other issue s with this TV.
Now I have the Blue Blur syndrome like so many others I have heard about in reviews all over the nation.
I will write to all teh blogs I can find warning people not to purchase Sony product again. I will never, my family, and my co-workers will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a Sony product again.
I paid $3200 plus $450 4-warranty, $600 Sony surrond sound sytem, and $700 stand for this TV totalling $5300 bucs. Sony will miss my contributions for now on, shame on me once, but not twice.
I'm thinking of just video taping shooting it up with a shotgun, because with the technology today it is worth absolutely $0.
Please help me to spread the words, Boycotting SONY products ALL.
I will only buy SAMSUNG products for now on.I have already got (2) 40" LED, 40" LCD HDTV's and love them both. Plan on purchasing a Samsung 55" LED to replace this Sony piece of JUNK.

Sincerly Frustrated,

KDF55WF655 I'm having the same optical block problem many people are having and I was never notified about the recall. I paid $2770 plus $500 extended service plan on 05/2005 which expired 4 months ago. I was happy with the tv unit until I contacted Sony. I'm not buying Sony products any more. They knew about this problem and failed to notify the customers. They claim they did but I don't know how or when as many other custumers.

I was just about to order a lamp for my Sony Wega KDF-55WF655 but now decided to just go buy a new set from Samsung after reading all the negative reviews on this page. I would hate to spend money and have the set develop the "blue star screen" issues mentioned here.

This review is to warn all people thinking of buying Sony products. I have the KDF55WF655 Sony LCD Projection TV that I bought in 2005 and to say that I regret buying it doesn't express my disappointent loud enough. But, I must agree that when this product actually worked, the picture and sound quality was good.

I too have experienced the same problem with the screen as mentioned by so many Sony users on the internet. The problem started with one little blue star in the middle of the screen and now, after some months, it is like a starry sky - like looking at a still planatarium shot.

My recent experience with Sony's E-Service (Customer Support) and Qualxserv (Sony's maintenance provider) to try and fix the problem has not been positive at all and I shall never buy a Sony product again. While the E-Service person was polite and all that, he acted as if he never heard of the Optical Block problem with Sony. Having done all his usual trouble shooting bits he referred me to their Qualxserv. They wanted $99 to come out and look at the product... Give me a break.... With so many many Sonys exhibiting the same problem, why can't Sony either repair them free or even replace them is beyond me. Don't consumers have any rights any more!?

Known for a "Optical Block" failure. Goggle the following: "KDF55WF655 Blue Light". Mine didn't go bad until about three months after my 4 yr extended warranty expired. There was a recall be Sony kept it to themselves meaning I was never notified. It's $1,100.00 to repair. I paid $2,995.00 for it. Other than that, I really enjoyed the set. It was great. AQs long as you can get protection from the "Blue light on screen" (usually starts in a bottom corner) it's a good set.

I am writing this review to warn all people buying Sony products. I have the KDF55WF655 and can't express my disappointent loud enough. Much like the other commenters I agree that when this product actually works the picture and sound is good. But my recent experience with Qualxserv (Sony's maintenance provider) & Sony Customer Support has taken a once die hard Sony advocate to the brink of never buying a Sony product again. I will not go into a long sob story about the maintenance wows, but after 3 weeks, 3 repair visits & a couple of hours on hold with Sony my television is still not fixed..Buyers beware!!!

Weakness:

See notes above. Poor quality control, unresponsive support. Do not buy Sony products if you expect quality. It's not where they are focused anymore.

Complaint sent to Sony 3/7/2008

Model KDF-55WF655

My Sony Grande Wega is once again starting to die. In November 2006 the bulbs and power supply for the bulbs died. The TV was less than two years old, and should have been covered for service. It was not. I spent $1000.00 to repair a $3,000.00 TV. Now, it is cutting out like it did last time. I'm very disappointed in my Sony purchase.

The last time that this happened, Sony was very unresponsive in helping me get the television repaired. I don't expect to be treated any differently this time.

Sony used to stand for reliability and quality. That is apparently no longer the standard.

I'll replace it with a nice Korean model at a much lower price than I got this Grande Wega.

I'm considering making a film to complain about this horribly expensive, yet unreliable TV, and taking a ball bat to it. My daughter suggested that I post it on YouTube. Not a bad idea, since I know that Sony will not stand behind their products any more. I think that it's also my civic duty to warn others about what they can expect when purchasing Sony products.

Customer Service

horrible
