RCA L50000 Rear Projection

RCA L50000 Rear Projection

DESCRIPTION

Stimulates the senses, some of them more than once. RCA Scenium presents the future in television with a 50"" diagonal widescreen television that is 18"" deep and about 100 pounds. The small footprint of this television allows it to be a tabletop model or a floor model (when combined with the available coordinating stand, sold separately). Powered by LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) technology, using an intense white light source, a sophisticated prism and lensing system the high-definition image is magnified and perfectly aligned on the widescreen so that there isn't a bad seat in the house!

Strength:

NONE

Weakness:

A company which will not take responsibility for a product demmed "DEFECTIVE".

This is by far the worst television is have ever bought. The "bulb" died only after 5-years coasting $500+labor. I believe this product has been deemed my RCA as an overall "Defective" product. Though the warentee has expired, since RCA has explained that is was an overall defective product, they should pay for the bulb, costs, or replacement. This was the first year RCA came out with the LCOS system, and at a price of $7,000 they should immediatly rectify this disaster. I for one will NEVER purchase another RCA product after this.

Strength:

Relatively inexpensive for a 50" HDTV. Bright sharp picture. Impressive for the price.

Weakness:

Basic directv features in the integrated receiver.

The LCOS is sharp and bright. Colors are vibrant as one would expect. There are a few preset configurations (cool, normal, and warm). The integrated directv receiver is basic; there is no turbo search capability. Yet, an integrated HDTV directv receiver saves about $500. The set is light and the rather small stand is easy to assemble. The price dropped considerably; at about 5K quite a package.
