Covered in review summary.

I own a 1993 Zenith from when JVC still woned them. It is still going strong. So, I knew about JVC's quality from experienc since the Zenith was mostly assembled by JVC. And I am right so far. I have the newer version, the AV-48WP55. I have Adelphia Cable's HD Digital Cable Receiver/Tuner connected to it. I used component video cables for the 3-D picture and analog left and right audio cables. The stations broadcasted in HD come in crystal clear. Its BBE High Definition Stereo Sound is excellent, although I plan to add a home theater system to it. It has plenty of audio and video inputs. The owner's manual and remote are both very easy to use. And the remote is very easy to operate. I also love the multi-position split shield dual tuner PIP. I also have a DVD Recorder connected to it also using component video cables. Its picture and sound are also clear and sharp. And it has a connection to make its speakers the center ones when using and audio-video receiver. Based on quality, ease of use and features, this is one set I highly recommend.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality, especially with HD.

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet.

Not the cheapest set on the market, but we haven't had any problems with it after 15 months of daily use.

Strength:

Picture..clarity..detail and viewing angles...Price!

Weakness:

Glare off the screen with any type of lighting in front of it.

This is a review for the AV48WP74. I've had this tv for about 1 month now and have seen enough of it to post a review. The picture quality when you put a progressive scan DVD is supurb. Standard tv thru Comcast digital cable is good. The true picture for this unit is seen in HDTV. The stunning clarity and detail has to be seen. Words cannot do this tv justice when your talking about its hi-def picture. Watching Monday night football on this set in now an event rather than just a game..truly stunning!!! The only drawback that it has is glare off the screen. If you have a light on behind your seating area it will reflect off the screen. Easy solution is to put low ambient lighting off to the sides or behind the tv. Watching in a blacked out room will cause eye fatigue for some ppl. Other than that I've found no other weakness with this unit. Viewing angles are suprisingly very good. You won't be disappointed with this product.

Strength:

Picture quality isn't bad for the price paid.

Weakness:

TV doesn't work long enough to enjoy and is obviously cheaply made. JVC Canada have the worst customer service in North America and never have parts in stock.

This is by far the worst TV I've ever bought. I had it for less than 6 weeks and it died. It took another 6 weeks for the parts to arrive and get it fixed and it has died again with the exact same symptoms. I am sorry but I don't recommend anyone buy a JVC TV unless you can afford to see over 2 grand go down the toilet. I'm off to see my lawyer.

Strength:

Picture Quality Sound W/ Sub hooked up Many PIP options Component Connections Aesthetics of cabinet (either hate it or love it) Ability to lock out front panel (small kids)

Weakness:

Remote poorly laid out Need to cycle through all options to find on you want. User manual a little vague

Firstly this review is for the AV48WP74 but I did not know where else to put it. I have only had this beauty for about a week and all I can say is wow. The picture is magnificent once it is set up. Tons of built in features and connections including the ability to connect a sub directly to your tv and the ability to use your TV as the centre channel. Sound is not too bad and once you hook the the sub up to it is is really good. This is good if you want the extra base without turning on your home theater. I have heard alot of people talk about watching Monster Inc on it and how good it looks (which it does) but I say watch the Transporter and you will be in shock at what this TV can do with a DVD. Don't have HDTV reciever yet and am still on crappy Digital Cable so the only time I get to make this TV do what it can (sort of)is when watching a DVD in a couple months Iam going back to sat and am going to get HDTV so then I will post again about what I think of the pic.

Strength:

very cheap compared to many other wide screen TV's.Like many JVC products, pretty good "bang for the buck"

Weakness:

red push, and some general color /tint issues. When in service menu ,noticed some settings were of from spec out of the box.

I bought the 57 inch version, black in color, have had it since Nov 02.Got it as a floor demo from Circuit City.I did lots of comparing to other brands, and picture quality was as good as most higher priced ones. For the price I figured it was a good starting point for a 16/9 HDTV,and would by great for me till the price of plasma's etc come down.Overall it is a great set for the money,it does have some issues with red push, grayscale, etc but nothing a good ISF calibration coulnt fix.I managed to get a service manual and "tweeked" the internal service menu settings and it helped a lot.Picture is very good a most Dish network channels, and DVD's are really nice.Overall I am very happy with the set

Picture quality

This review is for the 65 inch JVC (AV-65WP74), very similar to the 48 inch. What a piece of junk. Let me say that again. What a piece of junk. My old tv was a 60 inch analog JVC with a great picture (with the exception of scan lines). It was bright, colorful, very detailed, but it was time to upgrade to a digital unit. I thought I could'nt go wrong with JVC again...right? WRONG! This tv is horriable. I get a massive headache watching this thing. It looks very out of focus. No detail at all, on any source(did not see HDTV, because I dont have access to it). My wife was pissed that I had gotten rid of our old one for this piece of crap. My friend bought the 48 inch about 2 weeks before I got mine and he complains about the same things. When the dilivery guys came to drop off my new Sony and pick up the JVC they said, "a lot of people have been returning these new JVC's". "There all complaining about the same thing". "out of focus, looks like crap ect.". JVC did something very wrong with there new line of tv's. My new tv is a Sony 61 inch KP61HS30. I wrote a review on that one also. I highly recommend it.

Strength:

PRICE PRICE PRICE TV PICTURE GREAT LOOKS JVC COMP LINK

Weakness:

Remote has way too many buttons on them.

I have had this unit for almost 4 weeks now and it continues to blow me away. It was a toss up between JVC, Toshiba and Pansonic. I kept on changing my mind, but boy am'l happy wiht the JVC. It is the right size for the room and offers an excellent picture in both digital TV and DVD. The sound quality is fair at best, but then that's why I have a paradigm surround sound unit. The silver body is actually a very smart idea. It does not show the dust like black screen one will.
