As powered subwoofers go, 100 Watts seems weak; however the PSW 200 has been consructed to outperform similar higher-powered subwoofer systems. I've a/b'd it myself with other subwoofers and I could not believe my ears. It has solid, powerful, accurate bass. I didn't think that I would be able to judge the difference in the lowest ranges, but this subwoofer really sings. It is a true high-end loudspeaker as opposed to what is currently on the market for $600 or less. If you can hear the difference, then it is worth paying for.

Strength:

Powerful,Deep Bass

Weakness:

Placement critical to avois boomieness.

This Subwoofer is capable of serious deep bass reproduction. It can compete and hold its own against any subwoofer in the 600 to 1200 range..However,placement is critical.Placed in a corner, this unit produced boomy, distorted bass, however, not due to a fault in the unit..After about an hour of moving it about(about one foot from the wall and corner) I was able to get deep bass reproduction down to about 28htz.This is a true figure, that was measured.Paired with a THX reciever with Eosone towers(speakers set to small all around) My 25 by 20 foot room was shook to its foundations in both music and movie soundtracks. This model is no longer made, but I believe that the current line of Polk Subs are comparable if you look at the Powered Port Design models..(they mak two versions of consumer units..
