Strength:

amazing power crystal clear great for both music and movies

Weakness:

my wife thinks it's a big dust magnet, so no real weaknesses

I am a very lucky person to have this sub. in my house. I can't believe how crisp and clean the sound generated by this beast of a subwoofer is. I have been a big Mirage fan for some time now. My entire HT consists of Mirage speakers and I can't endorse them enough. No I don't work for them. For anyone thinking of starting a home theater definatly listen to the Mirage line. For anyone looking for a sub to add to there ht don't miss this one. Strength:

looks,weight,extension,

Weakness:

not to be placed directly in corner

This sub is very heavy. It performs very well for music, and of course stellar for ht. I use it for an anchor when listening to music, to get that last octave of bass present in good recordings of all kinds. It looks incredible, sounds incredible, and is a real bargain. I can't begin to tell you the benefits of having several good subs in your system. This is the best onr that I have now, and should be on the short list of subs to audition if you have the scratch and the space. I have it set about 10 feet from back wall, and about 1.5 feet from side wall. Give this one some room to breathe.Placement is easier because of bipolar design. You must listen to it, but be warned: once you've had black, you may never go back!

Pant leg flapping: 10 Looks: 10 Value: 10 Weight: 10 Gives me complete satisfaction that LFE in our system is awesome: 10 Music: 10

Weakness:

none

I bought BPS-400 #1 in 1998 for $825.00, it has been a solid performer, love it. Always wondered what another one would add to our system. Tweeter was closing out on them last summer, floor models only. I found one, the top was not that great, haggeled them down to a $467.00 purchase, brought it home and use it along with the other in a dual mono effects speaker and roll off all other speakers below 50hz. to the pair. As you can imagine I'm twice as satisfied with 2. They have been bullet proof.

Weakness:

I don't think its stackable? Now I want two of them. ok ok...no weaknesses.

Oh my god after the break-in period this sub absolutely kicks butt. For anybody getting this sub wait till after the break in period before judging this sub. Now I know why Widescreen Review uses this as their reference subwoofer.

Weakness:

weight- GET OVER IT!

I finally bit it and upgraded my prologic to DVD/Dolby Digital last fall come to find out that my Klipsch SW10 could not deal with LFE, it snapped with midranged frequencies. I am was/am a stout Klipsch-having 5.2 front, Academy center, and 2.5's rear. after listening to my brother-inlaw complain on the phyiscal effort required to get the BPS400 to the family room we tried it out. IMPRESSIVE does not do justice, he now tells everybody that the big heavy black box makes his pant legs vibrate. I had the SW10 at max and the BPS400 is a 4 and is louder and cleaner, tighter than the old one. My teenage son who is into car audio has to demonstrate this unit to his buddy's. He told me not to adjust the level up when under power cause it will Hurt you.

Strength:

Great Power for Movies & Music

Weakness:

A little big but definitly worth finding the room for it!!

Unbelievable!!!! I bought this sub last week after my Infinity blew. I did research on the Internet and went to Tweeter to test out my results. At first I was a little scared at the BPS400’s size, but once I compared the sound between the BPS400 and the other subs at the same price range (under $1000). The BPS400 won by a mile. Once I hooked the sub up the first movie scene I watch was the Helicopter Scene in the “Matrix.” When the helicopter hit the building and exploded I thought my leather couch was going to rip. The sound was so real!!! My wife came running downstairs to see if something actually exploded. She was even impressed by the power that this monster produces. This really is an amazing sub. It has made me want to watch all my DVDs again to see what I was missing!!!!

Strength:

endless power, alot of punch

Weakness:

you room aint big enough. You'll never be able to open this baby up all the way

If you hate your neighbors this sub's for you. I run this sub with a pair of Klipsch RF-3's. I drive it with a B&K pre-amp and 140 watt amp. This is an aswome package. I turn the frequency way down bacause my mains already have alot of punch. This is a great compliment to any rocking system. I had an AR 200 before. Apples and oranges baby, apples and oranges.

Strength:

Bass responce, low freq output

Weakness:

This sub is very heavy,

Sub is very powerful, movies come to life..low rumbels shake everything in my apartment. Musically preforms well, does not sound boomy or out of control with beat. Variable 18db crossover and level control..looks very nice with piano black top.

Strength:

Fast and powerful bass. Much better than larger diameter subs.

Weakness:

Don''t live within 50 yards of complaining neighbors.

I used an 18", 1000W sub before the BPS400. Not only was the single 18 boomy and unrefined, but the sub enclosure was butt ugly. The BPS 400 looks much more refined, and makes a much better sub due to its fast attack. Two 12''s have nearly the same volume displacement, but you have twice as much magnet assembly pushing that air. For movies, explosions seemed to hit harder. Music was where my old 18 failed miserably. The Mirage was simply a better music sub, especially with bass guitar and pipe organs. It''s a heavy monster, though. But placement was far easier due to its bipolar configuration. I placed it under my center since it does NOT NEED corner reinforcement for good bass response. It also looks stunning!

Strength:

Overall design and amplification.

Weakness:

Weight.

This sub was by far the best performer in the budget range I was working with. Even better than several I had tryed that was more than I wanted to spend. It never seems to rn out of power, its quick, and it plays loud in the low range. Opposing direction makes it easier to place in the room too. Great for music, unreal for HT.
