Strength:

Great bass range - crystal clear sound. Makes everything from Maria Callas to Too Short sound incredible!

Weakness:

Can't hang anything on the walls!

We run 4 P2s, S3s in the front and S2s in the bac - with the center channel. What an incredible sound system! Have been blown away since we purchased it. It offers crystal clear sound with all genre of music. Absolutely incredible - especially for the price they are. Bose? What Bose!?

Strength:

Deep, loud bass and small footprint When docked with S2, the integration is seamless, both geometrically and sonically. The combo does not just look like a floor-stander but also sound like one. The bass not just blends into the music but, compared to passive designs, reaches deeper and remains adjustable in volume.

Weakness:

Metal extender bars that come with the feet look quite strange. I chose to install the rubber feet only.

When used alone, this active subwoofer has a small footprint but deep, strong bass (down to 25Hz). It is a competitive product on its own. When used with S2, this subwoofer is amazing. I have never heard a subwoofer integrating so seamlessly with a mini-monitor, even at hi-fi shows. Subwoofers are great for movies, but for music they often sound booming or extraneous. The bass from S2/P2 sounds just right, like a big floor-stander. P2 has a built-in switch (low pass filter) that adjusts its frequency response to match S2. S2 still receives full range signal, while P2 only plays below 50 Hz. There is no additional crossover circuit which would add distortion to mini-monitor, and stereo imaging is not affected by down-firing subwoofer because sound wave below 50 Hz is definitely omni-directional. Some experts suggest two subwoofers are better than one because low frequency sounds from two sources can form more evenly distributed standing wave patterns. Perhaps this explains why two P2s gives off natural bass. You will not realize how much music you have missed until your stereo can reach the lowest octave. Lots of instruments go down to this region, including piano, organ, large drums, double bass and synthetic instruments. I begin to appreciate church organ more and more: not for its bass, but for its rich tonal varieties in higher frequencies (achieved by adjusting stops). However, without the bass support, organ (and jazz, and orchestral music) can sound top-heavy and dull. Unfortunately, because very few stereo systems reach the lowest octave, TV broadcast and even some recordings contain excessive low bass signals in order to please the general audience. The beauty of S2/P2 is that you can adjust the volume of P2 to make the amount of deep bass suit your ears in your room. For special effects in movies, the quantity of bass dominates whether the room shakes or not, but for music, bass is judged by quality. P2 does not just provide quantity and quality in bass, but also the potential of blending with competent mini-monitors. The accuracy of S2 and room-filling bass from P2 adds up to a full range setup not just on the frequency spectrum but on the music spectrum as well. No other speaker in this price range comes close to its ability of handling a wide variety of music with ease. Strength:

excellent for both music and video, flexible design, on- board front panel controls

Weakness:

none noted

8" woofers deliver deep, clear sound. Controls enable bass adjustments to room and audio type. Cherry wood is a touch of class; also available in black. Great combination with S2 or S3 speakers. The Athena speaker system offers a new superior level of choice and flexibility in this competitive market.

Strength:

Look.
Flexibility on different Home Theather configurations
Solid bass

Weakness:

Additional support (4 metal bars at bottom needed when docking with S2 speaker) does not look nice at all

I bought this P2 sub woofer few weeks ago. What I like most from Athena is the new tech that you can upgrade your system any time when you got the money to buy more. Their products look nice too.
BTW it doesnot produce much power as I wanted at high volume. Higher volume does not give solid bass. It might be because of my NAD T760 receiver. I do not have other receiver or sub-woofer to test.

Strength:

Incredibly solid and deep bass. Surprisingly wide range of crisp, smooth sound when combined with S2 speaker.

Weakness:

Required silver metal "feet" when in use with docked S2 speaker definitely unattractive.

Very versatile sub, works great with various types of music, movies, and other home theater applications. Combination with S2 or S3 models produces excellent all-around sound. Great imaging as well. The P2 is a suprisingly bassy sub for it's small size.
The metal "feet" that are required when docking to the S2 speaker are not appealing, however, I intend to simply paint them black before I continue using the speaker.
Overall, these speakers produce a sound that's worth twice the price you pay for them.

These are the best qulity pseaker I have heard to date. The only problem is there are few places that sell them. I would put these up against Polk and Bose anytime, ecspecially for the price. Definately a quality speaker system.

Strength:

Deep clear sound a good grip on both movie sound and music

Weakness:

None as far as I have discovered.

I bought my P2 together with S2 as a set. And, my god, this combination blowed my ears! My sister was there when I put them up, and we had been at the Wacken open air festival for heavy metal the autumn before and she said: Hey, this is like to be at wacken! And there they use speakers big as houses! hehe, well, I could agree that this system fills the room with pleasureable sound and for a low budget enthusiast as me, it was a major upgrading to my system.

Strength:

great sound at low volume levels, bass is crisp , clear. Fantastic

Weakness:

dont like the cherry wood scheme , would have been perfect black.

my opinion of the speaker is that you would have to spend at least three times the amount of money to find anything even close to equivelant.
