Strength:

Excellent color and resolution with quality sources.

Weakness:

Original unit shipped with bad mainboard.

Although original shipped with main board that was bad, my dealer changed it out on the third day and it has been a killer unit ever since! It tunes well and has several sound modes that produce surprisingly full and rich sound from the built in speakers. I run movie sound through a JVC digital reciever and Infinity/JBL speakers. Overall this TV is the best priced 36" unit with the features it has. I paid $979.00 delivered and set up!

Strength:

Overall looks, number of A/V jacks, color, and Guide+. Outperfoms all similar products.

Weakness:

No "one-button push" on remote for video inputs, and can't save video settings to each video input (both small problems).

Awesome TV when receiving a good strong signal, but with weaker signals, the picture can look fuzzy or soft. Video tapes using composite or DVD's using s-video or component are as good as anything I've seen on any direct view TV set. Unit is very easy to setup and adjust. Color reproduction is this thing's bread and butter....Excellent! I am able to overcome the problem with video settings on different inputs by simply adjusting "custom" to my liking on the cable/antenna input, and then swithing to "normal" when running DVD on the component input. The normal setting only brightens up the picture from my custom setting, and it is nothing short of stunning when viewing a well photographed movie. The addition of Guide+ is a very nice feature, and with the included remote cable eye, I can perform extremely easy tape recordings of any TV show without ever turning on the VCR. Easy to set this feature up too!

One more thing on the picture quality with a good signal: I had digital cable for a month, and the premium channels that came through the digital cable receiver were darn near DVD quality and looked very very nice. Although I cancelled the digital and chose to stay with just traditional analog, in my area the signals are strong and my pictures from this TV are 90 - 95% more than satisfactory. The other 5 - 10% are not too bad and easily lived with. I would definitely buy this TV again.

Strength:

good remote, easy to set up,plenty of inputs:both front and back, excellant picture, decent sound, the best deal for your money out there in the 36"range.

Weakness:

none that I can see

I knew it was time to replace the Sony when I had to smack it on top with my fist 6 times every morning to get it to fire up.I wanted something bigger, anyway. One of the magazines did a review of it a year or so ago and and they said it tested right alongside their benchmark set the SonyXBR100.I checked out all of them in the 35-40" size and this one I think is the best deal out there. This thing retails for about $1540.00. I got it for one third off.A heck of a package for the money.I had one problem with it just like the other guy had. The main board went out after about one week of use.The people at Harris jumped right on it,and I was back in business in 2 days and I have not had any problems since. If you need a good set to hold you over until this HDTV thing ever gets off the ground, this is the one for you.

Strength:

Excellent picture, magnificent color accuracy, very simple and very complete on-screen menus, including color temperature, and a full array of connections including components.

Weakness:

I still need to buy a remote to replace all the others. The remote is good, but I have five remotes for TV, DVD, Receiver, VCR, CD, and Satellite. It didn't operate any of the other units.

The unit has an excellent picture. The color decoding is the best I have ever seen. DVD's look oustanding, very filmlike picture with the color accuracy. The back of the unit is loaded with connections, including component inputs for DVD's. The unit was extremely easy to setup with on-screen menus for everything including color temperature. I bought this set to replace a Sony 32". The Sony had a very good picture, but not enough connections. In a side by side comparison the Zenith had a better picture, and color accuracy was much better than the Sony.
The only problem I experienced was using the AVIA disk to fine tune the set. While playing the disk, and trying to adjust the TV, the menus overlayed each other on the screen making it hard to view the Avia material. I had difficulty setting some of the levels, because the levels were so accurate to begin with, they didn't need adjustment. I researched all the Video magazine reviews, before I selected the Zenith. I checked all the sets at the stores. The cable reception they use to view the quality of each set is a joke. You really don't know what you will get until you get the set home. For some reason the high priced Sony's seem to look the best at the store, and they were the only models hooked up to DVD players. I wonder why? I took a look at all the features, and they are all similar on the higher priced sets. The Toshiba, and the Zenith were in the same price range, but the Zenith consistently won in the magazine reviews. I ordered the Zenith from Granado Appliances in Valley Stream, NY. ($944 Delivered)It took a couple weeks to get the set, but it was worth the wait. In a side by side comaprison with a Toshiba 30", Sony 32", and the Zenith 36", the Zenith was better. All were very good, but the Zenith color accuracy is outstanding.
