Hitachi 36UDX10S Standard Televisions

Hitachi 36UDX10S Standard Televisions

DESCRIPTION

The Hitachi 36UDX10S isn't flat. It uses a traditional curved 36-inch tube and so avoids the geometry issues many flat-screen sets have. Sure it doesn't look as futuristic as its curve-less competition, and it does tend to collect a bit more glare from ambient light sources, but its image is virtually distortion-free, and, best of all, it costs a good deal less than most 36-inch flat screen HDTVs.

Great television until after 1 year started to notice color distortion that degaussing would not fix. Found one other person that had same issue, but posting this hoping others have same problem and will contact me or post on forums. Suspect widespread inherent design flaw in CRT that Hitachi is seeking to minimize, not proactively fix (btw, Hitachi does not appear to make direct view TVs anymore). Distortion made more obvious by using Digital Video Essentials DVD (reference materials). Another user used AVIA. Hitachi seems to be pushing back since CRT no longer available; i.e., no spare parts. Which is why I suspect inherent design flaw (I'm in electronics mfg'g business so I know how mfr would handle this kind of disaster). Still under warranty and repair shop, as auth'd facility, is tweaking set per Hitachi technical direction. Hitachi rep that called (not repair shop), whose name and number I will eventually post, was not optimistic it can be fixed. Don't know what the tweaks are but made it clear to him that 100% fix and permanent fix (Vs temp that fails after warranty runs out) are not acceptable. He agreed. This happened today.
