Strength:

PIP, remote, sound quality

Weakness:

My wife thought I had gone of the deep end getting a big TV, until she watched a movie.

I was looking for a 32" non-HDTV as the availability of programming is not sufficient yet to go that route. In side by side comparisons with Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and others, no contest on picture quality and sound. Hooked this up to the Klipsch speakers and dialed up the surround sound, popped some popcorn and fired up a DVD. Ahhh!

Strength:

Picture quality, 2-tuner PIP, sound.

Weakness:

Slow changing channels No separate fixed audio output Took quite a bit of tweaking to get the colours right.

Great picture and sound. I spent about 2 months checking specs and viewing sets and this set was, by far, the best I could find for the money (better would cost at least twice as much). The price included delivery and setup, which involved 4 flights of stairs (this is one heavy TV)and connecting my dvd, 2 vcrs, and stereo. I had to use the front input for the second vcr.

Strength:

2-tuner PIP. Outstanding picture quality.

Weakness:

Pretty hard to find...Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. don''t carry it. But well worth the search!

Outstanding television. Picture quality as good as any other tube tv out there, particularly when using component video inputs. Sound quality is very good as well. Decent remote, at least for controlling both TV and DVD.

Weakness:

Very heavy, but hey! It's a big TV!

Love this TV, it's the best. Spent a lot of time in various stores looking at every TV, watching the same 30 second loop of Toy Story. The Hitachi is the best, hands down. I like it better than the Sonys even without the price difference (plus I got mine with a 150 rebate). As everyone says, the blacks are black, not like the gray blacks you'll find on other brands (e.g. Sony), and colors are rich (if a tad oversaturated at times) which makes for a very sharp and contrasty image. I have had zero problems with this TV in the past year...my coworker bought a RCA (i know, i know) and has had it serviced three times in one year (surprise).

I hooked up my DVD player (via a s-cable) directly to the TV just to watch my friends expressions. They all asked me the same thing, this is HDTV, right? Nope, that's the next purchase....

Strength:

Amazing picture, Great value, very nice PIP, Good looking style, Lots of nice options

Weakness:

None so far... except channels change slowly...

This is an amazing television, it does everything that all the others do, only better... a lot better. The picture quality is crisp, defined and the colors are really rich. When we went to the store, we had 5 tvs head to head, this one was by far the cheapest, compared it to panasonic tau, jvc, sony wega and an rca. They were all lined up to the same sony dvd player and this one had the best picture overall. It equalled the sony wega and the panasonic tau that were more than double the price, of course if the DVD player had been a progressive scan one and if the tube had been one as well it might have been different but overall this one was amazing. I like the silver look of the tv and i really like the simplicity of the design, for some it might look to square, but hey.. i love volvos as well. Call me a classic....
