Acoustic Energy AE101 Surround Speakers

Acoustic Energy AE101 Surround Speakers

DESCRIPTION

A powerful 2-way rear channel or satellite speaker. The drive units are housed within a 15mm MDF low resonance sealed enclosure which uses a 'boundary effect' from a wall surface to obtain its extended bandwidth, compensating for its compact size. The AE101 is ideal for use mounted on walls using the brackets supplied, or on rigid shelves as a surround/ effects speaker or as a satellite/ front channel speaker partnered with the AE108s or Aegis subwoofer.

Strength:

Very very powerful to the size.

Weakness:

Looks a little bit dull.

First I want to start by saying that I didn't buy this speaker ( yet ) but since there is no review I decided to be the 1st and give my opinion from listening to it in the store.
Well - It is a very powerful and detailed speaker. The bass is not so low but enough. Besides that it sounds crisp and accurate. I think it's a very good solution for those who have a small living room because it can be used as both main and rear/effect speaker.
... and guess what - it doesn't cost much too.

Strength:

Small and powerfull

Weakness:

Limited freqency response

Cost £99 for the set of 5, so a great bargian to start with. I was using these speakers in tandem with my Aegis sub, and sounded pretty good. Can be well hidden away due to their small size, though the fact that they can't go down very much below the 80hz point is a minor annoyance.

Pretty good though, replaced by the new Aesprit series surround.
