Summary:
I've had this sub for many years, it still sounds awesome. The FSR-15 is equally good for movies and music, it can play loud and low for movies, and is extremely musical especially for a larger diameter sub. This sub is even capable of getting way too loud if set to be. I compared it to many subs when I got it, from M&K, Paradigm, and others, it was easily victorious even over the FSR-18 which was my original choice.

Strengths:
Excellent in the lowest freq range. Looks great in piano black. Remote is nice for minor adjustments (though not necessary by any means). Can move a lot of air!

Weaknesses:
Absolutely nothing

Summary:
WOW! This product has no flaws! None! Excellent construction, excellent components and EXCELLENT sound. This baby goes DEEP, goes lound and and go all night!!! (almost sounds like a porn star!!!) That being said, the FSR-15 is an exceptional performer for both audio and video!!!

Strengths:
DEEP bass!I mean REALLY deep bass! No distortion. Excellent construction.

Summary:
The Velodyne FSR-15 is a true SUBwoofer unlike many of the subwoofers available today. This sub shines in the 18Hz-60Hz range. I bought this sub in 1997, but recently upgraded nearly my whole system. The FSR-15 is the only piece that made the cut to the new system. FYI - B&k AVR 305, B&W CDM 9NT''s, CDM CNT, and CDM SNT''s are the new peices. I would have had to spend $3000 on a Velodyne HGS 18 to see a significant inmprovement. The best impovement in my opinion would be to find a used FSR-15 for a total of 2 FSR-15''s in my system. This would easily surpass a single HGS 18. For those of you wondering what the hype is about the servo mechanism in this sub and many other higher priced subs - The servo compares the input signal with the actual movement of the 15" driver 3000 times/second. Any differences, i.e. the 15" driver isn''t doing exactly what the input signal is saying, the amplifier power is reduced until the signal and driver movement match again. The result is a sub with very very low distortion. If you are seeking quality, effortless sounding bass that can easily dip to 18Hz, this sub looks at this task as a cake walk. A 10" driver in an 11" cube enclosure no matter how much power can not get the job done as well as a 15" driver in a 3 cubic foot sealed enclosure - no comparison. If you have heard quality 15" + subs, chances are you know what I''m talking about. If you are looking for a used subwoofer, a FSR-15 in good condition is a good deal for anything less than $1000 all day long. Don''t call me, mine is not for sale. Remember, placement and the size of your room will have a huge effect on how well any sub will perform. More than most individuals think. Smaller room = way more potential for low frequency output.

Strengths:
Quality and Quantity of output from 18Hz. I don''t use this sub for 2 channel music (unless I''m playing Ja Rule), but it is above average musically in my opinion.

Weaknesses:
Long break in time i.e. waiting for the real deal, but I don''t know of any woofer that doesn''t improve over time, mainly the first 2 months depending on use.

This is the only subwoofer I have ever owned. I have many friends with lower priced subs that do a good job, but none can come close to the FSR-15 in quality and quantity of output in the 18-30Hz ran

Summary:
the CS-3009 is the top of the line model in the Crescendo series. the Crescendo is pretty much identical to the legendary Kappa line of speakers.

i am biamping these speakers: denon powers the mids and highs, adcom takes care of the lows. my lows are augmented by my FS-15 velodyne monsters. this setup kicks ass!

at the time i bought these speakers, the original was $2600 a pair; i paid $1200 a pair as circuit city was clearing them out. the EMIT tweeter is time-tested and has put infinity in legendary status.

Strengths:
velodyne knows bass; it is deep, full and yet still tight. designed and built in the good old bay area

Weaknesses:
can't get enough of a good thing....ample for a medium size room. for big rooms, you'll need at least 2 to reach movie theater sound levels.

infinity CS3009 (identical to kappa 8s) these are huge 4 way towers and yet blends quite well. have not noticed the "mid-bass dip" as some have claimed.

Summary:
Ok, for the money it seemed pricey. However, no other subwoofer can really outperform it at its price. I use it for the lowend goods with Thiel 3.6's, B&K, Classe setup. Instant gratification was mixed but after awhile you realize how special this sub is. Another person I know has it running with Apogee Duetta ribbons, just beautiful. I have not heard the HGS model so I don't know if that is better. I just know you will not be disappointed with this sub. I have a Steve Vai disc, Fire Garden I think, that has some unearthly bass. Same for an Ottmar Liebert Live disc. The Velodyne almost scares me during quiet, low frequency passages. It's seamless enough that with proper placement, you won't find it in the mix.

Beware of used or refurbished ones. If the servo does not work properly it will sound like s#@t. As always with any sub, placement is critical. I know there are better subs out there but have no fear buying one of these.

Strengths:
Clean and Low, Remote is fantastic, standard sub controls, packs a wallop. Blends well with every speaker I have tried. Blah, Blah, Blah.

Weaknesses:
Need more output! You can never have enough bass this good. None really, you just never hear this thing coming, you just feel it!
