Price Paid:  $117.00 from Builder's Depot

Summary:
I wanted a bit more bottom end on my patio - I got it! This subwoofer was just the ticket. I like that it is a passive subwoofer - meaning I did not have to purchase a seperate amplifier to use it. It has a built-in crossover which sends the mds and highs to my satelite speakers. The sound is very, very good. It will not reach ultra low, but it will go down to 35Hz. In other words, it adds depth to music that satelite outddor speakers simply lack on their own. I looked at other subwoofers for outdoor use and quite frankly they were way too expensive for me. This one was priced right. I could not try it before buying, but I decided to take a chance-am I glad I did! It is built well, is compact, and has punch. If you want to add depth to your outdoor music expeience and believe that one hundred dollars is acceptable, buy this sub.

Strengths:
Great, musical bass. Small footprint. Easy to hook-up and use.

Weaknesses:
This is designed to be buried in the ground or placed in a planter. I built a platform from plywood (treated the wood, of course) and placed the sub on the platform. I am not Mr. Handy so anyone could fashion the platform if they wanted to do so.

Price Paid:  $117.00 from Buider's depot

Summary:
This subwoofer sounds very good. An 8 inch woofer is plenty - providing smooth bass response. I am so pleased with the sound on my patio. The subwoofer simply adds a dimension that isn't there using the sat speakers alone. The subwoofer is made to withstand the elements. If one hundred dollars is an acceptable price to pay for a new dimension in sound, buy this thing. You simply don't need a seperate amplifier to use this sub. Thus, you save some money.

If saving money and great sound is important to you- consider the TIC subwoofer.

.

Strengths:
smooth bass response, compact footprint, well built.
The price is reasonible.

Weaknesses:
It will not plumb the 20Hz region.
