Weakness:

None except for a thin power cord.

I got this wonderful sub for a few months now. It's main use is for Home theater and 2 channel audio as well. I also run 2 optical cables for my SACD and Dish network receiver. My listening room is fairly small at 15x15 feet. You need to experiment on placement a lot to get the desired output. The sub is to the left of my tower speaker fairly close to the wall. This location yields deep and accurate bass. I currently have volume level set at 8 and crossover set at 65 hz. Perfect blend to my main speakers. Your crossover settings will depend on the type of main speakers you are using. I have selected a few dvd's to test it's output, sound quality and impact. One of them is entitled " The Recruit" DTS encoded and "The Matrix" reloaded. This sub absolutely knocks with authority! It will shake the whole foundation of your house! Stunning! For 2 channel i shut off all the surrounds and only use mains and sub. It sounds just as good stereo mode very tight, musical impact. If you are on a budget and want the best equipment go ahead and give this a serious audition! You will be glad you did.

Strength:

Deep tight bass and small size for a " driver. Smallet than my Axiom EP350 almost.

Weakness:

Poor cosmetics

Just purchased Psb Stratus subsonic 7 and very happy. Wish it was a little prettier but what a deep distotion free smooth sound. Replacing a Axiom EP350 that was junk. Chuffs and rattles that made my decision to purchase a new sub easy. Looked @ the Paradigm Ps2100 and Pw1000 but felt that for the dollar the PSB was more musical and just as quick as the Paradigm. Amazing detail in the musical end that I thought a 15" driver would not have. Can hear the bass drum and the bass for the first time like in Nirvana's Smells like team spirit that I never heard before. Very happy if only the cosmetics were better. May take cheap black laminate wood top plate and replace with a piece of maple or beech

Strength:

Super-low bass. 15" sub sounds much nicer than 10 or 12" subs. Great internal x-over makes your mid/high amp & speakers sound great.

The best addition to my system in the past year. Previously I had two PSB 10" Alpha subs, but this single 15", with x-over set to around 50 Hz sounds fab. Using the sub's x-over, rather than the one in my home theater amp greatly improves the sound of the mid & hi's on the main speakers. So - a sub that not only improved the bass, but mid/hi's as well! I'm proud to say that after a year in my apartment I finally got my first noise complaints with this product. No wonder - I can hear low notes on my CD's I never knew existed with this product. And with the way bass carries thru air, I'm sure my neighbors can too!

not the best looking sub out there

After spending the past three years with my pro-logic system which included a energy ten inch sub,i made the mistake of listening to a dd/dts suround system at a local stereo shop, resulting in the need to replace my outdated system with some current technology.while this caused great stress to my bank balance(and my wife)it had to be done.after countless searching and reviewing,i decided to buy the subsonic 7.many,many hours and countless adjusting have paid off,and this sub is rockin'.my room is approx.twelve by twenty five feet and the sub is placed between the tv and left main speaker.i have tried, but not been able to get this sub to show any signs of stress ,even at very loud levels.the bass is tight, accurate and downright low.my only complaint is having to straighten all the pictures on the wall after every movie.(no kidding)where this sub really shines is on dts encoded concert dvd's such as peter frampton live in detroit and steely dan two against nature.my wife has since made me install a door at the entrance to my theatre room because i tend to enjoy watching movies and concert dvd's at rather loud volumes.(at least she doesn't tell me to turn it down anymore)i have found that subwoofer placement is almost as important as the type of of sub you decide to purchase, having a huge effect on how good the sub can sound in a room.take the time to find the best spot in your room, and have a friend adjust the crossover and volume settings over and over until you get it right.it's worth the effort.i love this sub and would highly recommend that you audition it. my system:marantz sr7000,psb image 2b main and rear, psb 9c centre,subsonic7,toshiba dvd and audioquest cables all around

Strength:

excent bass response, especially in the low end. Very flat.

Weakness:

external box construction looks cheap... but that's not really anything that'll stop you!

Best thing to happen to me at work was our subwoofer got stolen when were were doing major renovations. So I managed to convince the purchasing guy to buy a new speaker and upgraded to the Subsonic 7. I spiked it, and hooked it up.

Holy crap... this sub is sweeeeeeet! Even in an office building it shakes concrete floors. When I put on the building demolition scene in "Fight Club" people though a semi truck hit the building. People that were 30 feet from our TV room felt the floor shake. You might think I cranked up the levels, but the sound level in the room didn't exceed 110 dB (C-weighted). I'm not a geek, I was calibrating the system minutes before... o.k.?

Strength:

Powerfull, small for a 15"

Weakness:

Limiters seem to help out a little too much at times.

This is peter again for my follow up review. i went back to the store and got the right manual and rubber things. i was going to exchange it for a different one because the bass plate on the back was making noise. unfortunately the other one they showed me was also making the exact same noises. i guess they all do. i decided i would have to live with it. (this is very minor and i doubt anyone but me would notice, but i feel that it should still be brought up)

After a month the sub broke in pretty good. it doesn't seem to play quite as deep a the energy but the energy was also ported. the psb is much tighter though.
this sub really shines in movies, but for a really lound kick drum in music this just can't perform like a thought a 15" would. Don't get me wrong though, you can clearly hear the bass from outside your house.

Anyone considering this sub, you should give it a try. your opinion is the only real one. i am an extremly picky person, and anyone who has heard this sub at my house was impresed.

i'm going to give this five stars because it really is a good sub, just not what i expected at this price.(i hate to campare but my shinney black lacquer finish energy sub was half the price.)

Weakness:

hv blown the fuse allready and blew the amp up but hey it's not like it says and i quote "it is impossible to overload this sub" in the manual or anything. BOX bites hard. But they gv me a new one. im not the avrg listener

The box of this sub bites hard.if u want a nice bx go get the pw2200 frm paradigm. I highly recomend that sub fr the price. U see my sis works at a&b so i got this sub fr 800 canadian. I made a box tht in my opinion looks better thn the paradigm, but looks pretty much the same. 6" port by 16", 3rd order, and i hv put alluminium arnd cornrs. and stuufed it, hs a dark formica cherry finish. and looks awsome. This has improved the subs quallity about 50%. so in my opinion is better thn the paradigm sub.
if these changes r not made go fr the paardigm. The box really wieghs this sub down.
psb has amazing technology. the sub it self is extreamly light, with good sound, they hv good speaks too. but need to work on design very much so.u cant hv one with out the other. I am very satisfyed with my sub now that it is not crying to me. sounds AMMMMAzing NOW. IN my advice do what i did if u hv a lot of building experience. Ur design hs to technical. it cant be just a box.if u hv any questions email me. i can be very helpfull, stereo's r my feild.so with my situation i would give this sub all fives but some wont be as fortunate so i will rate it the way it used to sound

This is the best sub for the price range; it won AudioVideo's Hi-Fi Grand Prix award. It has no trouble rattling stuff on desks on the next floor of my dorm, and sounds great in home theatre. I also have a pair of image 6T's and 500i's, which go well with this sub.

fast, tight sub, small size for a 15 inch drive

Just purchased this sub, thoroughly enjoying the tight bass with nice bottom end. Sounds excellent with music and home theater. I found the sub combarable to the pw-2200, the servo 15 sounded a bit tighter, quicker, but for the money I could not merit purchasing the paradigm. My listening room is 14 X 22, It has plenty of power to shake and boom, in fact my mastiffs jumped up barking last night when I was playing Jurasic Park as they thought something was wrong when the house shook. Recommended highly!
