I've had this sub for over 6 months. It's really powerful stuff - it performs the best below 50 Hz it does good job with pop, rock, dance music. The DSP-3400 sounds great in small, and large sized rooms producing deep bass. Very good at both loud and soft volume levels. Actually there is nothing you couldn't like - it sounds great it's powerful and looks impressive. Someone may not like the size of DSP-3400 but I like it very much and I the price is very affordable. You won't regret buying this paradigm

This sub will shake the closet doors and the walls on the other side of my 2000 sq foot house, without breaking a sweat (av set at -20 and sw level at 1/2). For movies it will shake everything not just the room it's in. My primary use is with music, I listen to about 25 to 30 hours of music a week everything from classical to hard rock to folk, country, and pop. You name it and we play it. This sub is quick and accurate it stays on beat and is never ragged. For comparison, I still have my PSB SubSonic 6 there is little if any comparison in my opinion. The paradigm is louder quicker and with better control. I have listened to several subs in many stores and this is the best for under a grand. If you are thinking about it and your budget is under a grand you will not be disappointed. ENJOY.

Strength:

Solid build quality
Immense Power
No distortion at any level
No artifacting
Plays ultra low frequencies with authority
Attractive unit
Attractively priced

Weakness:

For some decors this model may prove to be too large
If you have a weak back do not attempt to move this by yourself.

The Paradigm DSP-3400 is new for 2008. This is a the largest model of the DSP series of subwoofers. The DSP-3400 replaces the PW-2200v.2 from Paradigm and it shows why it is a strong replacement. The unit is very powerful along the full audible frequency range for a subwoofer. It's 900w dynamic Super Class D amplifier enables the DSP-3400 to easily play under 20hz with authority. At low, medium, and reference levels the LFE is very powerful without any distortion or artifacting. It is clean and solid and loud down to the lowest frequencies. Build quality is top notch. This model is very large and heavy and visually can overpower the room.

When playing Star Wars AOTC landing platform explosion scene this subwoofer easily crushed the room with solid LFE. There was no annoying boominess found with lower quality subwoofers. Another movie reviewed with the DSP-3400 is the popular "The Incredibles". Solid LFE throughout the whole movie and the sub played the lowest frequencies with crushing authority.

I love the fact that at lower levels the DSP-3400 performs beautifly not overpowering the rest of the system but providing a very pleasing ultra low frequency reproduction. Most of my viewing is at lower levels and I'm enjoying my subwoofer very much. This is the last subwoofer I'll ever buy short of a lottery win.

Customer Service

Audio Video Unlimited were excellent in describing a phone sale and gave me a bettter price at the store than promised over the phone. They even suggested that I return it after 30 days if not completely satisfied. No chance on this as this monster is a keeper.

Questions to Paradigm tech support were promptly answered over email.

Best purchase experience in audio video I have ever had. Definitely going back as a repeat customer.
