Strength:

Tight sound with surprising depth

Weakness:

Lack of auto-on/off circuit.. Power button sticks sometimes

I've had this sub for a year now and like it so much I am just now looking to buy a second sub for another system I'm building. Based on the great performance of this one I'm looking to get an HPS-500.. but don't let my move up the power curve turn you off to this nice little performer. For a small room, this sub will shake the floor pretty well. I'm just looking for more of a good thing:-) What's great about the 250 is that it sounds great with music as well as having power to perform in home theater use. If you're looking for a sub in this price range, you'll be impressed!

Strength:

Smooth but powerful bass. Good on both movies and music.

Weakness:

No auto off/on

After a lot of trouble with the BU-120 and the PSWD112, Harman Inc. made good with the HPS250. Great sound. It does not rattle the walls as much as the PSWD112 but it performs much better with music. It took a lot of phone calls and E-mails but I think I now have a sub I can live with.

Strength:

Ability to fill a larger room with all the bass you need.

Weakness:

No auto on/off.

This is the first sub that I have purchased as an addition to my home theater system. I have used this sub for over a year now and I still love it. I listened to many subs of different makes at my retailer and none for the money had the clean, tight & controlled sound/feel that the HPS 250 produced. It works great with music or movies.

Great for music. Bass is clean and blends well with existing equipment. There is definitely a lot of power to spare in this beast! A huge step up from the BU series. There is some boominess for sparse orchestral music. If you are picky, depending on your main speakers, you may experience some patchiness at the crossover point. Keep that gain down. Otherwise, a great subwoofer for under $500.

I just got the speaker earlier today and I think that it's well worth the money.
