Cerwin Vega T-36/750 Subwoofers Reviews

Cerwin Vega T-36/750
MSRP:
$ 740.00
The Intense! T-36/750 subwoofer is compact, loud and clean. Featuring a larger radiating area than direct-radiating woofers, these horns will also array better, maintaining directivity or "throw" over a greater distance

Summary:
I use this product for professional DJ use in large venue, high output environments. I use a pair in a wedge shape for acoustic coupling powered in bridge mono mode by a QSC PLX3402, at 3400 watts at 1KHZ. The power and throw is amazing.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $1000.00 from Sound City

Summary:
Purchased for my home theatre system for maximum movie bass. Using it along with two other CV subs. It needs to be rolled off at 100 hz or below with your low pass filter in your amp or reciever. I am powering it up with a 200 watt stereo Audio Source amp bridged in mono at 250 watts. The sensitivity is so high that a 100 watt mono amp will be fine as long as it is installed in the corner of the room.

Strengths:
EXTREME LOW BASS AT REDICULOUS LOUD LEVELS!!! If you do not balance the sub with the rest of the speakers in your surround system, it will be too much and dround everything out. I have this sub balanced with two others in my system and it sounds great. You balance using an SPL meter and set each sub to 75db each to a test tone. I use the bass tone on the Video Essentials. (the first one. It's a 50hz tone) If you use it by itself, then set it the same, 75db. Once you balance the sub to the rest of the system along with playing with phase, crossover frequency, placement and volume, it should sound good and deep. Installed correctly it will shake the house off the foundation. My room is a 20 by 25foot L-shaped and open.

Weaknesses:
It's a horn loaded driver so you will get some midrange out of it if you do not roll it off low with a steep filter. 100hz or lower at 12 per octave. 70-80hz at 18 is optimum. It is NOT AN AUDIOPHILE PRODUCT. You do not want to use this for acurate audio bass. The application is for pro audio and live venues. I am using it for maximum low impact movie sound. I listen to 80's metal and it reproduces the kick drum perfectly. I would balance it with at least one more sub for a more acurate sound with music.
