I traded in my AS6 last year for this baby. It cranks for both music and movies. I find it equally as pleasing for both, and I have dialed the volume somewhat low, even in my 14x20 room.

Set up:
B&K 202
B&W 602s front
B&W 601s rear
B&W HTM2 center

Strength:

Quality built, Great looks, and strong bass response!

Weakness:

None

I must say after reviewing the site and reading through the opinions on B & W products, especially the ASW2000 I agree with almost everyone. I have yet to experience the "muddy" bass response, all I have experienced is earth shattering bass! When you consider the price, the quality is second to none! I have yet to turn the volume on the sub pass half way and what I have experienced is nothing but beautiful bass reproduction. I highly recommend this product if your looking to ad a sub to your system, you won't be disappointed!

Strength:

Good punch

Weakness:

Poor extension

Being very happy with my DM603s2 speakers, I was very excited to finally purchase this subwoofer. However, I was very dissappointed with it when I finally got it set up and playing. While there was pretty good punch, the sub just didn't reach down real low. That's the main reason I wanted a sub. I don't need to scare the neighbors. I just wanted a sub that will reproduce the lowest musical passages and the real bass that's in movies, not exaggerated boomy explosions. This sub simply didn't deliver. I tried placing the subs in different places in the room and evrey spot in between. I must have lifted this 70+ lb behemoth 50 times to move it. Sad to say, I can not recommend this sub.

Strength:

tight bass.
Size
can play with music also

Weakness:

This sub kick ass.
I compared it with the asw 1000 and must say there is a world to difference. It has a 10" bass in a small cabinet but the 700w build in amp has completly control even at high volumes. It has built in adjustlble low/high cut frequenses from 50 to 150hz and ajustble volume. This is not a big clumsy box who will fill almost a 1/3 sq meter. its just heigt 12.4in/
width 12.4in/depth 15.8in and have only a 15 litres volume.
It even plays well in 2 channel and you can`t tell from where you have placed the sub.In home theatre the asw2500 just are there when you need it and not before (or after). The asw 2500 hit you right in your stomac, just as you want it to, with a clean tight "fist", and goes never muddy like the asw 1000.
I have placed the sub between my one front speaker and tv
and must say it gives me the perfect sound picture. This sub does not have to be placed in a corner to get the last punch out of it. The asw 2500 just give it to you.
I just say one thing buy it.

I heard it with:
front:Bw Cdm 7se
center:Bw cdms se
back:bw cdm snt
amp:denon avr 3802
dvd:Marantz dv 6200
preamp:nad 216 thx

Do not listen to this sub unless you want to lose your hearing. I write this as a former Velodyne owner. I had the VA1012 (~$700) for about 3 months. It did fine for movies but was just too sloppy for audio. I wanted something more accurate and more punch. I A-B'd the Velodyne F series 12" servo sub (~$1200). It was definately tight but didn't have the volume for movies. The F series 15 (~$1700) was out of my price range and I wouldn't have been married the next day had I brought that one home. I was getting ready to walk out and be content with my Velo 1012 (that was in the back of Jeep ready to be traded in) when the salesman said, "wait a minute, what about this B&W, we just got it in and I haven't had a chance to listen to it." He turned it on and I noticed my pant legs moving from the air pressure. It turned out to be a B&W ASW 2000 ($1000). Definately in my price range. I traded in my sub and took the ASW home. It's got a 175W amp made by Rotel and weighs ~80lbs. It's big and bad. I took it home and hooked up my Marantz 780, B&W 600 series speakers and Air Force One on DVD. It moves a lot of air and is loud. That was four days ago and my left ear is still sore. I'm going to start listening w/ ear plugs in just so I can have the air movement that I like. :) My coworkers are still talking about the experience. One said they actually felt like they were getting shot in the initial machine gun scene because of all the air pressure. I know that B&W's previous sub attempt at the AS6 was an abysmal failure, but they have pulled themselves out of the mire with this new series. Compared to similar priced Velo subs, I got more volume, precision and air movement for the money. Check it out. I hope my hearing comes back.

Although I have the baby brother the ASW 1000, these asw's are awsome. I opted with the 1000 instead of the 2000 because of limited space. The 2000 was just to much for my room. The 1000 fit in perfectly, the ground shakes. B&W does it again!
My system;
Yamaha rx-v992
Yamaha cdc 645
Thoshiba cinema series tv
B&W cc6 -center
B&W 603's -main
B&W rock solids -rears
B&W asw 1000 subwoofer

Still waiting on a DVD player to buy. I can't decide on what to buy. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should buy please email me.

With exception to the ASW3000, this is quite possibly my favorite sub within a sane price range. It is a very satisfying improvement to the previous line of subwoofers, which consisted of a poorly built AS6, and an exceptional ASW800. With 1000 dollars between them, you had look elsewhere if you wanted good bass for under a grand. Now, with the ASW2000, you can spend about 750 bucks(if you know how to haggle)and have a sub that's only a hair short of the previous 1600 dollar sub. It is by far more impressive than anything I've ever heard in it's range.

This sub is bad. It produces a lot of bass but still very accurate. But, for the price, size and sound output, I would rather "settle" for the asw1000. It wouldn't be fair to give this sub 4 stars, since compared to a velodyne or sunfire it is a 5 star sub. But, the asw1000 would be something like 5 and a quarter stars.
