Bottom Line:
Why I gave it 4 stars in the Value Rating Scale? Because, it is not 5 stars due to the lack of frequency control, which is available on other subwoofers. Why I gave it 3 Stars in the Overall Rating? Because it refers to money doesn't matter, and obviously there are more expensive 8" subs with better features and specs; still the SW-50 is quite a performer.

I have had this sub since new, purchased it at Sears 17 years ago, back when I knew nothing about high end audio, and has seen constant use and abuse since day 1. As of today, it works flawlessly, amazingly the no issues, the enclosure is a 7/10, woofer has no degradation, and plate amp work as it is supposed to. These days it sees use with my main music system, and no longer sees HT duty. This sub is amazingly fast, being sealed it can certainly keep with most music. It will not go down too low, maybe around 30 Hz, but it will still rattle windows when needed to. A great addition to small full range and/or bookshelf speakers. Bass is controlled, good separation of instruments, and thump from kick drum is very real. If you come across one of these don't be afraid to buy it for a secondary system or even for small main system.
