Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $0.00 from circuitcity

Summary:
Awesome sub at any price, will meet or exceed your need for hard pounding bass. Very tight and quick with hardly any distortion.$150.00?....A BARGIN! Highly recommended!

Strengths:
Hard pounding bass that goes much lower than the specs list, good looks don''t hurt either!

Weaknesses:
None besides the limited selection for cross-over points..60-100-200 hz..in my case 60hz is what I would use anyway.

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $150.00 from circuitcity

Summary:
First of all let me tell you that I bought this to address the mid-bass attack that lack in my rear surrounds,I have this sub hooked up to my REARS...so this review is based on this application. This sub WITH ITS 10 INCH DRIVER does a great job on hard pounding bass in the 50 to 70hz. As a matter of fact, this sub surpassed my expections WITH LITTLE OR NO DISTORTION. As a main sub or a fill-in sub at $149.00,you cant go wrong.

Strengths:
Strong output at the 50-70hz range, great mid range bass

Weaknesses:
does not go that low,but I knew this before buying.

Similar Products Used:
sony sa40,yamaha 305

Review 5 of 6

Price Paid:  $150.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
It was the only one choice below $150 at Circuit City. Greate deal for its value. My neighbors hear it.

Strengths:
Sounds good. Have nothing to compare with. It improved the sound of my bookshelf Polk Audio dramatically.

Weaknesses:
The Auto on/off feature is bogus - it depends on the level of the signal. When I play my CD quietly - in my office, the auto on/off switches between on and off all the time. ( I use the pre amp subwoofer output of my ONKYO 575X receiver. But it is easy to fix - just turn it on/off manually. THD is about 1% - low quality amp was used.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
