yamaha s540 dvd
cambrige a500 integretead amp
marantz cd4000
jmlab chorus 716 s + center 700
rear - speakers wharfedale modus 2

i'am listening to music and wacthing movies at about 50/50 relation
when using the agis for HT it completely fill my 6m by 5m room with low bass
it can handle even a much bigger room .
the bass it tith when you need it to be , like in shooting scenes and it can also
shake the entire hosue in big explosions .

when using the agis for music you need to spend alot of time fedling with the volume and corss over , if you get it rong it will sound much to boomy
so you need to be carefull with the volmue , but eventulley it can be suprisingley musical and tith!

Strengths:
very powerfull clean bass and also very good for music.

Weaknesses:
still it's no REL (for good or bad)

Review 2 of 10

Price Paid:  $200.00 from eBay

Summary:
For a first sub i am very impressed, it took a little bit of tweaking, but once everything was set up this sub puts out a lot of bass, especially for 150 watts. for a large room i would recommend a sub with more power, but for a average to small size room this sub is great.

Strengths:
good bass

Weaknesses:
none for the price i paid

Review 3 of 10

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Online off ebay

Summary:
Bought this sub to complete a friends HT starter system. I read the specs carefully, found it was a discontinued item but it compared favorably to higher priced items. Easy to set up and use. Well made, superior fit and finish to most low to mid level subs. A good to great bargain if you can find one used or discontinued.

Strengths:
Well made, easy to set up and use, not too bad to look at and can be had cheap.

Weaknesses:
Minimal set up instructions, no calibration disk or other tools. You're on your own with this one.

Similar Products Used:
Hsu VTF-2, Hsu VTF-3, JBL PB-12, Typmani powered sub.

Review 4 of 10

Price Paid:  $199.00 from EBay

Summary:
I fixed the port noise reported by others by converting the subwoofer to an acousic suspension design, as Acoustic Energy has done to the redesigned version of this speaker. Plugged the bass reflex port with a kid's "The First Years" sippy cup. The sub is now well behaved and powerful. An uncommon value for this level of quality.

Strengths:
Good musical and home theater performance.

Weaknesses:
Requires conversion to a bass reflex enclosure, but this is easy. Discontinued model, so supplies won't last.

Similar Products Used:
DefTech, Velodyne, Klipsch

Review 5 of 10

Price Paid:  $0.00 from hyperfi

Summary:
I can't help but think that the previous reveiwer had a faulty product, or had set it up incorrectly - no offense intended. But I have been using this Subwoofer for over 2 months and have a totally different experience. It takes time to set up nad can be boomy and muffled until the setting are right, but volume? oodles of it. My setup includes Denon 3802 AV receiver, Sony widescreen projector, Tannoy front floorstanders, centre and 4 dipole surround speakers. My system can handle volume and has to fill a large lounge (10.5m x 7.5m). The problem was filling the room with any subwoofer without spending a fortune on a REL. The Aegis copes admirably (to the point where my light fittings rattle!) but manages to stay reasonably tight and hit REAL lows. My only problem is the size of the room doesn't allow the sub to fully fill the room and my ears perceive which corner the sound is coming from. So, I have just bought a second Aegis Sub to balance out this problem - with the subs in opposite corners I should be able control the bass even more accurately and remove the only current flaw. Price Paid: £199 I anticipate 2 of these (£498 for both) will achieve more for my system than spending a similar amount on 1 sub. Watch this space...

Strengths:
Goes so low Impressive volume Great definition (with time and tweaking) Value for money price (originally £499 when released)

Weaknesses:
I have heard greater definition/control in other subs - although in a smaller room - it may be they would suffer the same problems. I can't afford 2-3 REL's positioned round my room! Unattractive - the best placing is in full view - just a big black box!
