from Outdoorspeakerdepot. Summary: The TIC GS-6's were a disappointment when compared to the Bose Freespace 51's. The GS-6's produced clear, crisp highs, but the bass response was extremely poor and "boxy" sounding. At mid-to-high volumes, the unit would "rattle" when playing music with strong bass (probably the metal grill vibrating).
To be fair, at $79, the speakers are a decent buy, but if you're trying to get the best possible sound from an outdoor omnidirectional speaker, this won't cut it. The Bose Freespace 51's, at $399+ cost four times as much, but in my opinion, they sound four times better. If all you want is a speaker to play low-volume background music, these speakers WILL work fine (they don't sound "cheap", they just don't sound great). If you want something to produce "living room audiophile quality sound" in your backyard, these won't cut it. Strengths: Price. Weaknesses: Sound quality. "Boxy" sounding bass. Not "smooth" compared to the Bose Freespace 51. My unit exhibited a rattle when playing music at a high volume. Similar Products Used: Bose Freespace 51
