This is the cream of the crop. If they were still making this speaker, today, it would still fetch the 15,000.00 New! (no problem) and worth a whole lot more. I have followed the VMPS line for a LONG time.
The quality of the speaker, inside and out, can match any thing on the market today. I have seen most of the Hi HI Fi gear, and listened to even more. DIYers have the best hands down, but their one of a kind, USUALLY! This speaker, when set up WRONG will astound most people, but when right, will bring tears to your eyes.
Sonically they disappear in the room, to produce pure auditory Nirvana.
Visually they demand more than a casual look they are a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
I'm running Mcintosh, Krell, and modified Adcom gear. I read the previous review. Yup any 400.00 speaker indeed! How about ANY 60,000.00 dollar speaker or more made today. Shoot I'll give you five times that (400,00) NO PROBLEM. That person got a deal of a lifetime. The VMPS line up ALWAY, gave you lots more for your money,. Parts alone for that speaker (in bulk) would exceed 2000.00, NOT including the cabinets, that's another 2000.00 EASY. I just happen to know, I have built LOTS of speakers. VMPS still the best. R.I.P. Bill enjoy the angels singing.

The VMPS Elixer just goes to show you how much speaker you can get for $400 these days. These compare favorably with many $500 or even $600 speakers I've auditioned. Most speakers in this price range feature conventional drivers in conventional boxes, but the RM/X Elixer outshines them all with ribbon tweeters, planar mids and carbon fiber woofers housed in massive, gorgeously finished cabinets. The highs are sweet, the mids sound real, and the bass is simply world class. If you can find a pair for $400 by all means buy them, you won't be disappointed.
