Product Description

The new Radius 270 is a floor-standing tower loudspeaker designed for genuine full-range performance in a serious stereo system or multi-channel audio/video system. The R270 employs an array of technical developments derived directly from Monitor Audio’s award winning reference speaker ranges. A superbly polished performance coupled with an attractive, slender appearance provides the opportunity to enjoy high performance and discreet design all in one package. Supplied with black or silver grilles, the Radius 270 can be customised to suit specific décor or taste requirements. Real wood veneer and lacquer finishes provide a lustrous appeal and are crafted to the same exacting standards as Monitor Audio’s reference speaker systems. In contrast to the stark metallic appearance of many A/V satellites, the Radius 270 offers a tactile sense of quality that feels at home anywhere.

Bottom Line:
Let's start off by first impressions. Sexy. Sleek. Sharp. I got mine in the piano high gloss black. For a speaker with such a small footprint, i was amazed by the lack of any major distortion from these speakers. Although M.A. is mostly about the music. These speakers compliment home theatre systems anywhere. I almost went for the rs6's but I got a great deal at $750 at the time for these. Very good highs, impressive lows, it sure ain't Bose! I listened to Radiohead's Kid A ( a fave) and I could clearly hear Thom Yorke's unique voice shIne through. The percusion on this album and amnesiac put me center stage with the band. As for live music; I almost went ape$hit when I watched the Dave Matthews /Tim Reynolds Blu Ray. The acoustic strings's plucking shined through these babies. The solid body design is a quality to appreicate visually and on the technical side too. I recently auditioned the newer radius HD version and only noticed cosmetic changes. They sounded exactly the same!! The grills look updated and the terminals for the speaker wire are ground level instead of being 4/5 down like mine are. If you can get a good deal on these you'll be kicking yourself if you don't pull the trigger! Hope you love yours as much as I do!! Oh and if you own Deftones's White Pony do yourself a favor and hear that album again with these.
