Bottom Line:
I have the SDAT SB-880s and have traveled with them since 2006 through 7 locations and wrapped for a period of time and they still rock each and every time. Its plenty loud for the neighbors to come over and get there groove on. Great highs and deep bass.

Pioneer Elite 7 Channel, 170 W per channel

Picked these SB-E880B speakers new off e-bay in `06. On their own the sound is a little lacking, but when combined with other speakers the sound seems better An eq is a must to adjust to the speakers. I run them with a pair of BOSE 901's and a pair of Pile 10" 800 watt woofers powered by a CROWN XTi 2000 amp pushing 1000 watts continues per channel and it sounds great.

Bottom Line:
I got these on ebay because I thought they looked cool. They had plenty of drivers of varying sizes in a somewhat logical arrangement. The drivers were shiny. I thought - how bad can they be? Well the answer is... fairly bad. The main problem stems from the highly resonant enclosure, which does not seem to be damped or braced at all. This results in a very colored sound that is best described as - boxy. The highs are OK but not prominent, the bass is quite full and smooth, mids are present but not accurate (high mid seems missing, low mid is muddy) so overall not bad but it sounds like all of that has been placed in a medium sized particle-board box and then a blanket has been placed over the box. As far as the soundstage is concerned - the soundstage is a box that is sitting right between the speakers. There is a blanket on the box. I cannot imagine what speakers the first reviewer had in his posession. They must have come with a bottle of cheap vodka because that is the only way anyone might have confused these with Polk or JBL or anything else for that matter. White van all the way.

Bottom Line:
When I pulled these out of the box, I couldn't help but notice the hollow, drum like sound when my hand accidentally brushed one side of the thinly veneered cabinet. This is not a $1200 speaker...luckily I had only paid about a hundred fifty bucks, but I still felt as if i had bought speakers from the back of a van in a parking lot.
The sound is just awful for Hi Fi listening. I can see these speakers MAYBE being good rear channels in a surround system. No soundstage, imaging was flat, cabinet resonance was audible, and seriously, they just sound like what they are: Best Buy low to mid level mass market audio trash. Well, good for a high school kid or a college dorm with crummy acoustics I guess.
