I have had a pair of the VM30 with a VM20 center and the DSW Pro 600 sub powered by a Denon AVR 3808ci receiver. I've had them for more than two years now. They look amazing! And they sound amazing for the price.

You have to understand and appreciate the purpose of these speakers. They are not meant to rock your house (though they can). You must have a subwoofer -- the crossover should be no lower than 60Hz. Most of the reviews out there ding the speakers for the lack of powerful base, but they all miss the point. These have six forward firing drivers -- all in the mid and high range, delivering superb mid and high-range sounds. This makes them great speakers for classical music and vocals.

Most audio specialists will tell you that the ideal placement of a subwoofer is rarely the same as the placement of the main channels due to the long wave of sub-80Hz sounds waves. This means that you can place an external subwoofer in a different location in the room. Having a built-in sub in the main speakers does NOT guarantee blending of the mid range and the lows for that reason.

The end result is that these speakers give you the flexibility to experiment with a very small foot print and high WAF
