Strength:

Great soundstage for speakers this size! Effective bass for a non-powered bookshelf speaker.

Weakness:

Velcro Grill attachments.

For their size, mini-monitors are quite possibly the best bookshelf speakers you can buy. The frequency range is impressive! They create a wide soundstage. The mini-monitors can be used for main speakers or as surrounds. I''m not just saying this to please. I''ve moved them around just to test them. If you want a capable small main or excellent surrounds, buy the mini-monitors! However, I do have a gripe to share. The grills use velcro. I would''ve preferred snap-ins. My other pinnacle speakers have them. Why not these?

I have owned these little guys for about six months now and I am thrilled with the performance of these speakers for their size and cost. For my small space and limited budget, they do everything I could ask of them--detailed highs, accurate instrumental voices, and stunningly tight, deep bass for a cabinet only a speck over a foot high. They are also very efficent: I have a 35wpc Parasound Zamp which produces more volume than I (or the neighbors) need. Compared to other speakers I auditioned for up to twice the price, I heard a few with slightly better imaging, and some had silkier highs, but none did more things as well as the Pinnacles. Highly recommended.

I bought a new pair of these at auction for $200 (w/S&H) and use my NAK AV-500 to drive them. I'm very impressed by the range of these speakers (particularly the highs), although I will probably get a small sub (8-10") in the future to help them with the lows. At one time I considered the Bose products (301/501) but to be honest, I really didn't like the way they sounded.

Strength:

crisp sound wide and tall soundstage

Weakness:

none

I just got these on a great deal on the internet and have only listened to them for a day. I was impressed with them right out of the box. They are very sturdy and look great with the grills off and the gold tweeter visible.

They are quite small but they put out big sound. The soundstage depending on the material extends well outside the speakers and has good heighth as well. I am hearing detail that I did not hear on my old Polk Audio bookshelf speakers. I am using them as the main speakers in my home theater system and I can't wait to watch a good action movie like Saving Pvt Ryan or Matrix.

They have a 5.25" woofer that puts out decent realistic bass. The gold tweeter puts out crisp highs that might be a tad too crisp but I have only used them for a day so maybe they will relax a little with time. So far I am very happy with my Pinnacles and am considering trying one of their center channel speakers. A good solid product and an absolute steal at the store demo price that I paid. They are American made in N.Y. and should be better known. Try them!
