I own Teatro 7.5 for a year from now. They sound is very natural with a good amount of bass. I listen to all kind of music most of the times. The height of the drivers in 7.5s is perfect, the sound stage is fine and deep with wide and the effect was fantastic and pleasant. I was very impressed with the mid-range quality of sound of the voices of Diana Krall and as well as lower frequencies are fantastic.

These speakers really beat the high ended speakers. I purchased for $ 600, after listening i was blown away. Really recommended hard to find, if you get one don't miss it.

Straightfoward sound without the mid-range romance of my PSB Stratus Golds. Sound fine driven with my Golden Tube SE-40 amp. I do not try to rattle the rafters with this combination. 90db average output provides nice fidelity, acceptable imaging, and emotionally enjoyable music.

None really. The lowest octave doesn't have the authority of the PSB Stratus. The Phase Technology is probably more accurate.

You read my purchase price correctly. I paid $60 for a working pair of Phase Technology 7.5's. Obviously the former owner did not know what he had, and no other E-bay bidders came out of the woodwork.

The cabinet venner was a little rippled on 2 spots when they arrived. A little expoxy and a clothes iron straightened that out in 5 minutes. The wood was dried out. Some wood oil darkened and moisturized the veneer.

Grills were clean. No perforations. Binding posts tight. Speakers surrounds all clean.

Lack of bass

Not a whole lot more to add other than to say that I wasn't going in to the dealer looking for new speakers (I was looking for a pre amp)and after listening to them to audition the new Marantz AV 9000, I walked out with them. Their beauty immediately caught my eye (I thought that based on the finish alone that they were at least $1200/pair). After listening to John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, Lyle Lovetts's Joshua Judges Ruth, and Dave Matthews acoustic album with Tim Reynolds, I was so floored that I walked out with them and sold my Paradigms. They just disappear and provide ample highs and detail without coloring the music. The soundstage is excellent for the money. For $550/pair I doubt you will find anything to compete in overall quality (I even have a five year parts/labor warranty). I just bought the Teatro 6.5 in matching rosewood finish to use as a center channel in my home theater setup ($200!!!!). My jaw is still dropped at the value for the money. I hope they stay a small company and keep their price/quality ratio where it is. An incredible value for the beginning audio enthusiast.

Beautiful speaker, Great clarity and detail

Needs a sub to really shine

They dont advertise. They're a little bit hard to find. Man are they worth it though. This speaker sounds wonderful, and the price is certainly right. I think I paid about $250 each for these speakers as part of a HT setup I got. They blended well with the sub, the mid-bass reaching easily down to the sub range, and with enough kick to satisfy without a sub. The detail and clarity is very good, and localization is not much of a problem. To top it off, these are beautiful speakers. Just wish the woofer with the same style as teh 6.5

I own the speakers for 3 month now and they are the VDT model with the Titanium woofers. Out of the box they sound great; balanced and very, very smooth, vocal are clear, warm and completely lake of grain, man and woman voices alike. They are very forgiving and can mate with most audio gear,from inexpensive and over-bright solid state receiver to a warm sounding tube gear. (I tried them on my vintage Fisher tube receiver and they really shine)

Before the break-in period the speakers were bass shy, but after only 20 hours the bass start coming through with great authority and inner detail that surprise me, it is getting better every day since. They will not go very low, but will be very accurate, fast and clear.

I read review that they can get boomy with wrong placement, although careful placement is require for optimal imaging and sound stage, it is however true for all speakers. The vent port is at the back so some distance from the back wall is necessary. I didn't have a boomy bass in any placement I tried so I think it is probably the model before the VDT that suffer from that.

Silk dome are excellent for music, I cannot stand the sibilance and the ringing effect that metal dome present; vocal suffer from metal dome as well they give an etch that give me goose bumps in the wrong way. (go and listen to the "Energy Veritas" that one reviewer praise about)

Sound stage is very wide, actually it might be too wide so you will have to reduce the distance between the speakers a little; however the sound stages not as tall as my Magnepan that I use in my dedicated tube audio gear.

Cabinet build quality is very good for the money and the drivers that are all manufacture in Phase Technology facility are excellent, I will say that they are just as good as Vifa, Morel and even Scan Peak drivers.

Conclusion: Those speakers are a steal at only $500 to $600 street price, it is not that easy to find a dealer, but if you find one go and listen for yourself, you might find your next speakers there.

I went looking for some good quality speakers for a moderate-sized living room. I'm not a true audiophile (I want to buy my gear and forget about it) but as a sometimes-recording musician and wannabe engineer I've got a decent ear for sound.

These speakers absolutely blow away anything else in their pricerange (i got them for just under $600 right after they came out this summer -- better deals can probably be gotten now, but I was sick of shopping and these were the ones I liked). They broke in fairly quickly, in part because the store had been playing them a bit as well.

The highs are smooth, perhaps a little muted, but they have that nice, gentle clarity without the icepick-in-your-ear, utterly unmusical "detailedness" that passes for quality high end these days (hey, we've all got opinions, right?). The low end is surprisingly good. These speakers come with spikes, which I recommend using. The spikes really tighen the lows; without them, I get some acoustic coupling with the floor and the lows get boomier. I know this because I originally placed these speakers on washers to protect my hardwood floors, but the spikes started cutting through. It's boomy low end until I find a solution. The low-mids are of course stronger than the true lows, and the rest of the midrange is very even.

Other plusses: these speakers to have an excellent soundstage: we made almost no allowance for acoustics in our living room layout, but anywhere in the room you can get a good sense of spacing out of these speakers. These speakers especially shine on classic jazz and lush techno recordings. I imagine they'd sound good on classical recordings as well, though that's not really my taste. The speakers actually reveal a lot of the flaws in rock audio engineering -- which is too bad since I listen to a lot of independently-produced rock. Don't get me wrong, the music sounds great, but you can almost hear the hole where the midrange and low bass should be.

I would recommend these speakers to anyone, but you should really hear a pair with some of your favorite recordings up against similarly priced models (or models twice the price for that matter) and decide for yourself. I've definitely found these to be "set and forget" speakers. I'm sure there are better sounding speakers, but for the several thousand dollar price difference, you'd better spent a *lot* of time listening to music and *really* care. I have no plans to ever replace these speakers.

Other components: generic 14-gauge wire, gold-plated banana jacks, Harmon Kardon AVR35 receiver/amp (HK AVR 24 MKII and 35 are also real bargains if you can find one used -- I can certainly hear the difference between a HK and good tube systems, but I'm not ready for that kind of financial committment).

As an aside, I learned a lot from this site (and ones like it) and so I wanted to pass this good tidbit onto you in spite of the draconian copyright policy: take a look at the "terms of use" when you post a review. Turns out that audioreview.com wants to own these words and claims all future rights to circulate and make money off them. Not that there's $$ to be made right now, but gee whiz, guys, would it be so bad if the author retained moral rights to reprint and reuse their own review? A bit greedy in spirit, if you ask me. I want to retain my moral rights, that's for sure. You should too.

I love this speaker. the value is enormous as this speaker sounds much better than many priced thousands more. I was particularly impressed with the tight, round bass. especialy in a speaker with no sub and as small as this one is. for $600 you can't find a better speaker

First I must mention that I am not an audiophile, but an audio enthusist. Which means I love music and much as the next guy, but I don't have a $50,000 stereo system. Meaning I have a budget, which I wish I did not have to adhere too.

I am not into brand names as long as what ever I purchase fits my wants and needs. This is the approach I had when purchasing the speakers.

I had a budget of $1200 for speakers and went every where with my music to compare speakers, regardless of looks, name brand, or the latest greatest gadget.

I was blown away by the PhaseTech 7.5VDT. I could not find anything that sounded as good.

I really wanted an omnipresent sound in my speakers, which I recently learned is called sound image. I played a live cd of Jimmy Smith in New York and I felt like I was there.

The speakers don't feel like they are driving or punching you with sound, instead I felt that I was wrapped in sound.

I began to think this is what the audiophile enjoys over the audio enthusists. I think maybe the audiophile is more knowledgable in the qualities of sound.

I went ahead and tested these speakers to some high end speakers ($2500-$4000) and I noticed the same sound imaging and quality.

I had to have the Phasetech 7.5 VDTs and for $600 I kept asking the guy at the store, "Are you sure that these are $600, is this for the floor model, are they broken or damaged in someway?" He lauged and told me that for the money these are the best speakers you can buy.

Of course you will not find these speakers at Good Guys or any chain music store.

My suggestion to all music lovers is to grab your CDs head to the highend stereo store in your town and listen to as many speakers as you can and make sure they have Phasetech. If they don't you are at the wrong store.

This is by far the best purchase I have made in the last several years. I think I have turned into a wantabe Audiophile with these speakers. ha ha ha
