Bottom Line:
These are great speakers! I got them at a great deal because they are discontinued about $900 or so for a pair shipped. I use my Emotive XPA-2 to power them and an Emotiva XDA-2 for my DAC. First impressions werent great they were very sharp and didnt have any bass to them. I kept them at low volumes for the first week because I thought maybe they just needed a little run in time to open up (yes it is a real thing) after about 2 weeks I used a bass test to see what they can actually handle (I normally listen to songs flat with very little bass enhancement) I used just some run of the mill bass test on youtube because sound quality was not important. I pushed them to the limits I had the gain set to 0.00 on my DAC and they produced with very little distortion they filled the entire room with thick rolling bass without any issue Keep in mind I am sending about 500 Watts to them at this point. I am on month 3 of owning them and they are only getting better I feel no need to look at "High end audio equipment when I am at stores now because they are symply spectacular. The Genres of I would suggest are Classical, Jazz, and some of the clearer not over distorted rock. I use Yes's Fragile album in Flac to test changes every couple of weeks and They are so clear. I would recomend these speakers over any speaker in the $900-$1200 range but make sure you have the amp to power them. The sensitivity is 86 db and you really need to be at about 2/3 volume to hear them come alive. I was not impressed with listening to Earth Wind and Fire's song Fantasy untill I took it up to 11 but the amount of detail that came out of them was scary It gave me chills and I had a grin on my face from ear to ear. I think i listened to it 3 times before my lady got annoyed. Overall If you have the time money and the space to crank them you wont find a better speaker out there for under $1500
