Indeed like GSM a Audio Enthusiast said.

I have my KEF's type 105.1 for 3 years now. I'm the second owner of the pair. I was very lucky with owning these. Actually my friend's grandpa gave me these for absolutely nothing. (cause i'm a audio fanatic) Off course there are a few bumps en scrathes but the overall picture looks okay. The wood was so terrible after 30 years in use that i painted them both black. Many KEF fans will hate me now but it does look good en badass. It's now 2014 and these speakers didn't lose any of there power or sound beauty. The speakers are in excellent state what surprises me. Even my old Sony's rubber is coming off but these baby's keep it going.

I did get several offers for the pair but i'm totally in love after these years. The sound is truly amazing. I've got them as front speakers with my home cinema 5.1. The bass is truly good to as it is 30+ years old (No sub needed no more LOL). All the rubbers are completely intact and yes i do clean them every week. Nowadays playing games and watching movies gives the true meaning of this speakers. The sound is so natural and makes you think you're outside playing in the woods.

If you would come across a pair you should defenitly buy them at once! I'll see if i can upload a picture to this blog.

Bottom Line:
The KEF 105.1 reference speakers are probably the BEST kept secret in the world. Everyone rants and raves about Altecs and JBLs and BOSE, but outside of the very top studio monitors (which require a lot more care and TLC with room EQ, spectrograph analyzers, and such - the 105.1s are the BOMB !!! I've owned mine since the late-70s and the fellow I bought them from replaced them with the top-of-the-line (and expensive) electrostatic speakers. Three weeks later, he wanted to buy the KEFs back from me with a $1500 premium on top of what he'd sold them for. Of course, by then, the KEFs and I were in love. :)

IMHO, the ONLY reason that these are not the go-to speakers they deserve to be is because I don't think there were that many pairs manufactured. First, they weigh in at approx. 80 pounds each ... AND ... they were rfigging expensive at the time. By my reckoning, you could've bought about 12 PAIRS of JBL 4311s ... or ONE pair of the KEFS.

Having said that, I'll wager that anybody would take these - for their personal listening - over just about ANY other speakers out there. Nice flat response, ability to tweak directionality, able to take lots o' power, crisp highs and mids, and a nice bottom end ... nothing harsh about these babies.

Only one problem ... there aren't too many around - and those that are lucky enough to own 'em, don't want to part with 'em. So start scouring estate sales, folks.
