If you have quality sources and pre-amp and amp these are very good speakers!

Bought two of these and I'm very unimpressed, the treble for starters is muddled and inaccurate and nowhere near as good as JBL's cheap Monitor Pro 1's. The mid range is excellent, really, really good. The bass is a joke for such large speakers and is missing a large part of the 80-200hz that JBL's ES 250 subwoofer just can not fill. If you've heard something like a B&O Penta then you know what I mean by kick in the balls bass that's above LFE Hz and only produced by very good speakers.

Finish is good, though all parts are cheap and won't have cost JBL much to manufacture. I would definitely not recommend these speakers to an audiophile, they are overpriced for what they are and similar consumer speakers from the likes of Richer Sounds sound far better.

The JBL ES80 Floorstanding speakers deliver a knockout audio experience at an amazingly low price.
Ranging 45hz-18,000kz @100/400 watts continous/peak and a slope of 24db@700hz,3600hz, 18db@18,000kz the audio reproduction and separation are tremendous! not recommended for a system pushing more than 200 watts but for everything upto that these bad boys sure do shine.
pros: great clear sound rich deep bass, snaping clear highs. great raw power. reasonable cost.
cons: a bit awkward to place due to their size and shape.

personally I have had mine for about 10 months and couldn't be happier,
