Great woofer driver, nice cabinet, handles power with ease.

Tweeter responce could be better (>20kHz) but still very good.

The Infinity IL30's are overall great speakers. The price paid wasn't mine-the wife bought them as a surpise gift. The new CMMD woofers are very light and rigid and can handle plenty of power without buckling. The tweeters are pretty good for the most part but I found the EMIT-R tweeters on my previous Infinity Reference 6's much better. These are ported speakers which I'm not accustomed to, but they do quite well with bass-I was quite surprised. The new look of the IL series is nice too...fits most new decors well. I can't review the imaging as a part of my couch covers some of the right speaker making imaging a nightmare.

Bass, build quality and asthetics.

Lacks punch, efficiency and presence.

Originally excited after reading positive reviews. Unfortunately after receiving and setting up the IL30s my excitement turned to dissapointment. Dull sound and inefficient is my best desciption of these speakers. Good bass for cabinet size but lacks brilliance and presence. These are definately not your fathers RSs !

Nice & mellow sounding. Neither bright & overbearing like the JBL nor heavy & muddy like the Polk. Very well controlled output I must say.

can get resonant if the bass is set up full with a cd player with 1 bit D/A. After switching to 16bit D/A, the problem disappeared.

WoW!. I added these guys to my current set up (Onkyo txsr500, Infinity Il10's, Il25c, and Yamaha sub, and they all compliment each other perfectly.. These speakers have good bass output, and amazing mids and highs. Nont only do they sound great, but they look great too. Infinity is the way to go.

150 watts is a bit light for a large room, Overpriced and light bass.

I think these speakers are great considering their size. I do recommend these speakers for someone is more interested in sound quality rather than power because that exactly what your going to get. These speakers sound very crisp and rich (small room) but once you advance to a medium to large room these speakers sound weak (same quality). The CMMD drivers are true to what it says it does and that is it causes absolute 0% distortion. The 6" woofer/mid is a bit light but a sub can easily fix that.

i bought these speakers with the il-25 center rear jbl surrounds velodyne cht-12 and harman kardon avr-225 and i really like the sound of my system ... yes i d like to spend a million but i m just 16 and im not rich! :P ... i d like to hear from people what they think about what i ve bought

Able to produce all frequency notes properly without distoration or harshness. Ultra smooth treble -no bright sounds. Vocals? Unbelievably smooth and life-life.

Break-in period. Not to sensitive.

(This chellenge/task was trully real and I spend 5 hours straight listening to all kinds of CDs) while concentrating deeply on the music itself. GOAL: To get the absolute BEST speaker for around $300 to $500 price range -we''re talking WIDE-soundstage, clear/soothing highs, and light amounts of boomy bass (which muddys midrange). Electric guitars must be heard and piano notes must sound real. LET''S GET TO THE POINT: 1) I auditioned: -Boston Acoustic''s VR-940 (oval-driver with their acclaimed AMD aluminum tweeter). -Energy''s e:XL tower (don''t know model number, but had two 5.25'' drivers with an aluminum tweeter). -Definitive Technology (bipolar tower with one set of 1" tweeter and 5.25" mid-bass driver in front and back). -Infinity IL30 tower with CMMD ceramic drivers. -Auditioned the IN-YOUR-FACE-Bass SPEAKERS: POLK RTi TOWER, KLIPSCH, BOSE, AND JBL. Remember all around 300 to 500 dollars. 2) NARROW THE CHOICES TO MEET GOAL: -ALL SPEAKERS with heavy bass(were kicked out). As well as muddy mid-range towers which could not produce accurate piano and guitar notes realistically. -Last standing was: Energy e:XL tower. Boston Acoustic VR940. Infinity IL30. Definitive Tech (I kicked out because it was using a BOX/TOWER design from Energy, but with it''s own drivers... sound was muddy for my taste. 3) Auditioned Piano/classical CD and the ENERGY e:XL tower could NOT produce true/realistic piano notes. So it was out of the chellenge. 4) That Left me with the Boston''s and the Infinity''s. -The Infinity''s weren''t effecient (88 db) and required a larger percentage of high-current power. But the Electric/distortion guitars where there! Piano notes were realistic and faithful to real ones. -The VR940 Bostons also produced true-to-life piano notes (trully awesome tower). But it lacked the ability to play the electric guitars accurately. Sure I heard them, but they were really really quite. SUMMARY: The VR940 Bostons excell at: -Classical piano music and smooth vocals. -Very efficent. -Be careful of AMD tweeter (it''s very sharp and crispy). The INFINITY IL30: -I PURCHASED! -Low sensativity (but not a problem for me). -Electric guitars are sound stronger. -Smooth, less bright tweeter notes (remember flat/wide-soundstaging sound is the goal).

Very nice cabinets, gold bi wire posts, quality sound for all but 1% of the extreme audiophile. Great price!

6 " woofer is a little light on bass, but adding a sub will help.

After having used Infinity Sterling Bookshelfs as front main speakers for a couple years I was happy to make the upgrade to the IL30, which I purchased on special from crutchfield in the light cherry finish along with the IL25 center channel ( $149.95) .Thus far I am not dissapointed although my receiver is as old as the hills ( 10 yr old Sony STR611) In two weeks I will be eagerly hooking up a new Harman Kardon AVR520, which I expect to really drive these speakers, and the center channel to their fullest potential. I moved the Sterlings into wall brackets to act as rear channels. Overall for the special price of $399 for the speakers and $149 for the center channel I do not think there is a better buy in this category. If I had to pay full price I would probably have gone with the IL40 for the larger woofer and extra midrange.

I've had these floorstanding speakers for over 6 months now, and I can honestly say that these are very fine speakers. The Infinity IL30 Floorstanding Speakers provide a very clear and distortion free sound, easily outclassing and outperforming many speakers in its price range. Low, mid and high frequency sounds are produced effortlessly, without sounding bright or harsh. Infinity uses their new C.M.M.D. technology on their speakers which provdes a better more smooth sound and practically eliminating distortion on high power peaks. The speakers matches very well with other Infinity speakers and performs equally well with both movies and music. Bi-wireable 5-way binding posts are provided on these speakers making hookup hassle-free. These speakers are a little on the short side, so I decided to place them on 12 inch Sanus Speaker stands, aligning them with the center speaker a little better and providing better imaging. All in all, these are terrific speakers which are very suitable for watching DVDs and listening to your favorite CDs. Definitelly a great value.
