regarding digital amplifier, it is complete crap.i own genesis apm 1 , wich employs the same sub with the same amplifier. so when the amp burned out i did not repair it, but replaced amps on both speakers. the result was wery good, i wish i would do it right after i purchase them. Those digital amps are p.o.s. from the moment they were designed.

Strength:

Deep Deep Base, Customer Support.

Weakness:

THEY DON'T MAKE IT ANY MORE

I recently had a problem with my three year old Sub. Contacted Genesis and they proptly sent me a replacement amp. No questions ask! Their only request, that I send the old amp ack.

This sub gets low with so much output that I had to put isolation feet on my dvd player and cd player or they would skip.

Ben hit the nail on the head. Read his story and for the most part you know mine. Recieved a pair of used G900's Of which I had been looking for for some time. One popped when turned up much at all (blown driver), the other was D.O.A.
I agreed to pull the amp out myself and send it to Genesis for repair. The amp was returned after quite some time and was damaged right out of the box. The thick metal plate was bent pretty badly where the transformer mounted to it. The box showed no signs of damage and I still believe the amp was dropped by whomever was working on it, although that was never owned up to. Genesis was urged by Overture to send me a new amp. Genesis sent me a new generation GSAT amp which had been used in G900 subs just before they discontinued the subs. I installed this new amp and it didn't function correctly either. It had a high pitched squeal. I was told by Overture to box up both subs and send them back to Genesis. They replaced the driver in the sub that originally was functioning but was popping, and fixed the new generation GSAT. I was told that the only difference between the 2 subs amps would be the number amount of volume on the L.E.D. display needed to match themb due to one being a 500 watt and the GSAT being 1000 watts. This also turned out not to be the case. When setting the low pass filter on the older amp to its max (120hz), it still wouldn't pass frequencies as high as the new GSAT set at the same 120 hz. The phase is supposed to be in 5 degree increments from 0 to 180. I noticed that when powered up the phase started on 4 in 5 degree increments. If you sequence the value up you get unintellegible characters after 179. The next recognizable charactor is a 3. If you keep doing this you finally get a 0 and then it is locked in and will go 0 to 180 like it is supposed to and will stay locked in UNLESS the unit is powered down. I actully got to speak to Arnie Nudell at Genesis and told him all of this plus the fact that this new amps low pass showed that it was adjustable clear down to 35 hz on the numeric display. He said that couldn't be. Keep in mind that while I'm on the phone with him I am looking right at the display!!! Genesis has been building a new GSAT for me to put into my sub which still has the old B.A.S.H. amplifier in it so at least the 2 subs will match. I was supposed to have that new amp 3 months ago. I spoke with Genesis last week and was told that the amp should be done over last weekend with burn in and testing to be done this week. I just got off the phone with Genesis and was told that something else needed to be able to power it up and test it had to be ordered and should be in tomorrow. Over all this time and they didn't know that they needed this to be able to finish the amp and get it out to me???
This WAS my opinion of Genesis Technologies: a company founded to cater to the uncompromising audiophile in every way from the sale to the service.
This IS my opinion of Genesis Technologies: a company which is living off of its name.
You can't imagine how exited I was that I was getting a pair of these subs. My friends, the exitment has turned to horor. If you are contemplating purchasing a Genesis product, consider yourself forwarned. Run the other direction as fast as you can. If I had it to do over again I would have bought a jam box rather than go through all this. Also keep in mind that this is a company who sell speaker systems that sell for over 100,000.00!! Maybe I just didn't spend enough to get their attention...hmmm...

Listened to many, many subwoofers and only checked out the 900 after having heard the incredible bass of Genesis' other speakers, like to 300 and 350, which in my opinion are the only full range speakers that do bass correctly. Bought them unseen and unheard only on what I thought was a brilliant execution in the aforementioned speakers.
Well, let me tell you that I have heard subs from Rel to Velodynes, to the Cubes in my system and no other sub integrated as well, with such powerful and tuneful bass. The remote allows you to control all aspects including low and hi pass, and volume, and with the 500 watt internal amp, this thing can scare the hell out of you yet still be musical if you set it up properly.

I'm very happy with the unit and have heard integration I have not experienced from other subs I've had in my system. Highly recommended.

tried alot, listen to alot of subs. None of them integrated with the main speakers as well as the Genenis 900. If you want power they can play very loud with integrity. One hell of a subwoofer.

Strength:

sounds great! no doubt.

Weakness:

support sucks. Warranty sucks

I purchased the sub in 1998 and had a problem with the amplifier. The warranty was for 5 years so I sent it in for repairs in May, 1999. After a lot of headaches and frustration I've managed to get my amp back yesterday, 04/23/2001. To my surprise, the amp they sent back has the exact same problem as it did a year ago. Nothing was fixed.
I've waited almost a year for nothing. This sucks. Genesis sucks. I'm through dealing with them. if Genesis cannot honor their warranties, the sub is a waste of money in my opinion, They cannot fix the problem but have refused to replace the sub's amp.

If you have $2000 to spend for a sub without warranties then I would recommend it. Go to audio review's message board and reply to my post about this and I'll gladly tell you the experience I had with Genesis support and their contacts.
