Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $4100.00 from Xperienced audio

Summary:
Because my previous speakers sounded too boomy in my room I decided to do some serious speaker upgrade. I visited many audio shows and demos. After visisting different shows it was clear for me That the Diapason Adamantes 3 had something special (I have heard more 2 to 5 times more expensive speakers that could not even come close) So I asked the local dealer to test it out for a few days, becuase at home it is always different. And so it happend. Wow, These speakers do everything right!!!. They have detail, they never sound sharp, they even have more detail, they are never sound boomy and they are (despite the small size) able too fill the room completely with music, and only music and also they are quite easy to place. These speakers are really really able to produce music as it was intended, and did I mention they have sound very detailed??? The Adamantes 3 cannot deliver as low as a floorstanding speaker would do (But they are still able to produce supprisingly low levels) but everything else they do so intensely perfect that I decided to use this speakers for a long time. And becuase of this I do not really miss the 5 or 10 hz extra in the low end that a floor standing speaker can deliver. I think you only need a subwoofer for movies, for music thet are just too perfect, unless you listen too church organs a lot, then maybe you need a different speaker. Also you can play really loud with these speakers. I have heard levels of over 100 decibels in my home (And that is really really really really really really loud) out of these speakers without any distortion. Just pure music, No matter how hard you play it. Does not matter if you want to play 60 decibels or over a 100 decibels with these speakers just sound so beautiful. maybe with movies they need a subwoofer but with music they are very very good.

Strengths:
Very Musical Never sound boomy Good Bass for such a small speaker Very balanced sound. Never get tired of the sound

Weaknesses:
- Expensive if you want 4 of them in surround sound - They are realy really picky about quality amplifiers. Dont even try an amp under $2000 because these speakers are so detailed they will reveal every weakness of your equipment without any mercy at all. If your amp sucks, it will suck 10 times as much with these speakers. However if your amp is really really good, they will reward you and will really show you all the qualities that you could not even dream of.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $2200.00 from Online

Summary:
This is one very fine speaker. I purchased these to replace my trusted Legacy Classic. The Legacies have beautiful vocals and I was worried that I had to spend a lot more money to get better sound, especially after auditioning some speakers in the $3000-$15000 range (including Sonus Faber Grand Piano and Vandersteen 5). As you can see on Diapason's website, the Adamantes is crafted from beautiful walnut wood. Those Itanians know how to make nice furniture! The sound was good from the get-go, but really opened up after 2-3 weeks of break-in. The sound is simply enjoyable, clear, sweet and palpable. The bass is surprising good for a speaker this small. Imaging is excellent as well. In all, an excellent value.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $3200.00 from november 2001

Summary:
I never believed that a small speaker can do it all. But after visiting a hifi show i was convincent that the diapason amandantes lll are really GREAT class. Now they are standing in my home and they are sounding great. If the programme material is good than these speakers can really sound good. Friends of me ask me where i put the subwoofer. They can't believe that such strong and deep bas is coming out of these small speakers. My amplifier (accuphase P 800) helps a lot in this case. Imaging is nearly perfect. The overall sound is very, very good. And the finish ? OUTSTANDING!!! If you looking for a small speaker with a great sound, than this is one to consider.

Strengths:
Beautiful sound , good bas , imaging is perfect.

Weaknesses:
None.

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $4000.00

Summary:
Untill now I've been listening and listening and it's beautiful.
Every piece of music I have sounds really new/different.
In fact everything sounds more real, it's sometimes frightening.
You can hear it's a very fast speaker and a very "quiet" speaker.
It does what it's supposed to do and nothing more, perfect.
Especially voices are so natural.
And then to know that I haven't even got a tube-amplifier.
But that wil come in about 2 years.
I've heard them with tube amplification and it's even more realistic.
If you are looking for reality this is the speaker to buy!!
You must spend a lot more money to get something that's really better.

Strengths:
reality level, beautiful piece of "art", not to difficult to place.

Weaknesses:
The lower frequencies (not really a weakness)

Review 5 of 6

Summary:
Absolutely the best sound that I've heard ever. And when this silky sound is produced by the most beautiful loudspeaker boxes ever made, I'm in love! This was love by first sound and sight. I listened B&W Nautilus 801&802, Elac, Dunlavy I&III etc... no one comes even near! The finish is the best you can imagine and the material is pure wood in a diamond like form. Even my wife was speechless when she saw them the first time (this is something really rare)... The low bass is amazing considering the size.

The only weakness is the price, I want five of them...

Strengths:
sound & looks

Weaknesses:
price

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
