Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
You can throw away that silly poo poo review below.Someone trying to be a joker. These speakers work fantastically with all types of music. They sound dramatically better after a few hunred hours use.Good quality equiptment needed.Ultra high quality drivers, all of which are metal. The mids are haunting, bass is tight and musical and the Lynnfields tweeter is one of the best, period.Sounds MUCH larger than its size.Very hard to find, but if you have a decent mid to high pwered amp and are looking for a great used speaker, try to find a pair. They were not that easy when new.

Strengths:
Versatile, from rock and blues to classical.GREAT drivers, ahead of their time, many new speakers use features pioneered in this speaker.

Weaknesses:
Mildly power fussy, hard to find.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
These things are superb sounding! They have wonderful , delicate treble, very good bass and a haunting midrange. They sound much larger than their cabinets.Mine have a relly nice agressive grain matched black ash veneer.I use the Musical Fidelity A300 integrated and it runs them with ease to any level most could stand to listen to,and without breakup. The power hog thing is a bit exaggerated in my experience.A supremely well balanced speaker that works well on all types of music, but I love them on jazz.Great with vibes, drums.and voices.Great speaker that never got the chance for whatever reason.

Strengths:
Superb ,well balanced sound,quite dynamic.

Weaknesses:
Finding them? People think they are power hogs. And they are heavy as h-ll for their size.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $2500.00 from Upstair Audio

Summary:
I own the 500Ls (essentially the same speaker utilizing a seperate enclosure for the mid and tweeter) but have many times listened to the 400Ls. These speakers are of the finest I have ever heard. Their soundstaging and imaging are unbelievable for the price (~$4000 MSRP). They are very musical and uncolored when properly driven. As well, they can produce amazing amounts of energy when used in a theater. If you plan to set up a pair do not skimp on the amp. This is a very dynamic speaker and requires as large and high grade of an amp as you can afford. I personally use the Classe' CA-400 on my 500Ls and have found it to be a match made in heaven.

Strengths:
Seamless soundstage, beautiful imaging, solid, well engineered, an overall amazing speaker.

Weaknesses:
Power hog!

Similar Products Used:
Lynnfield 500Ls, Aerial (all), B&W, Avalon, Classe', McIntosh, BAT, etc.

Review 4 of 4

Summary:
This is the one box version of the 500L.These babies weigh quite a bit for their size, about 36".The sound is superb. It is true the audio press never seemed to write much on them, but whay counts are the few lucky owners who have them and know. They need some power, but once set up,other than the deepest bass, they are quite incredible. System : Audio Research Vt200 power amp/Blue Circle BC3 Preamp/Kuzma analogue and Meridian 508-20

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
